A headlight for a motor vehicle includes a clear, front cover plate (), at least one light source (), and at least one reflector () associated with the light source (). A beam shield () for avoidance of glare produced by headlights of oncoming vehicles is provided, with the beam shield () being disposed between the light source () and the cover plate (). The beam shield () has a structured surface () with an arbitrary or selected geometric pattern on an inner side facing said light source ().

A headlight for a vehicle operating in accordance with a projection principle has a reflector, a light source, a lens through which a light emitted by the light source and reflected by the reflector passes, at least partially light-permeable element which at least partially surrounds the lens at least over a part of its periphery and is provided locally with optical profiles so that the light emitted by the light source and not engaged by the reflector passes through the element and is collected by the element, the light reflected by the reflector and passing through the lens forming an upper bright-dark limit, and at least one additional light source which produces a limiting light and is arranged so that the light emitted by the at least additional light source at least partially passes through the element.

Headlight for vehicle in accordance with projection principle

A headlight for a vehicle operating in accordance with the projection principle, the headlight has a reflector, a light source, a lens through which a light reflected by the reflector passes, at least one partially light-permeable element which surrounds the lens at least over a part of its periphery, so that light which is emitted by the light source and not engaged by the reflector passes through and is collected by the at least one element, wherein, the reflector and the lens being formed so that light which is reflected by the reflector and passes through the lens forms an upper bright-dark limit, the element being formed at least locally as a fresnel lens with ring-shaped optical profiles, and further optical profiles arranged at least in a part of a beam path of the light passing through the element and deviating the light so that it illuminates a region in front of the vehicle above the bright-dark limit formed by the light reflected by the reflector and passing through the lens.

A headlight has a housing and a reflector arranged in the housing adjustably by an adjusting screw. An indicating device controls the setting of the reflector and has a movable indicating part which follows turning of the adjusting screw and a substantially stationary indicating part arranged outside of the housing. The substantially stationary indicating part is arranged on a guide so that it is difficult to displace. In other words, the substantially stationary indicating part can be displaced to assume a base setting and in its set position is fixed. However, during travels of the vehicle, it no longer displaces on the guide under the action of vibrations and other influences. The ability of the substantially stationary indicating part to be difficult to displace can be provided for example by arranging of the substantially stationary indicating part on the guide with a slight press fit.
