This invention relates to an improvement in heat-treating equipment for flat, band-like lengths of materials, using a gaseous flowing drying medium, said equipment being composed of a thermally insulated housing with transmission slots at both ends for a length of material, nozzle conduits arranged in sequential spacing above and below the length of material and directed transversely to the direction of motion of said material and being provided with nozzles and communicating with pressure chambers, at least one heat exchanger connected to suction chambers, and at least one circulating fan, the improvement comprising that the upper and lower nozzle conduits include ledge means between the spacings of the nozzles extending transversely to the length of material and forming together a backflow cross-cut means, cover means mounted between the nozzles of a nozzle conduit of the upper nozzle conduits, and the backflow cross-cut means between the ledges of the upper nozzle conduits being covered with stop means, and the backflow cross-cut means between the ledges of the lower nozzle conduits and between the lower nozzles of a lower nozzle conduit being open toward a suction chamber.

This invention relates to an improvement in a device for treating a sheet of material, for example a sheet of foil and the like, which partially encloses a backing roll or a cooling cylinder, including slotted nozzles or wipers extending over the width of the sheet of material and positioned at intervals with respect to each other, for the application of a treating medium onto the sheet of material, the improvement comprising means whereby the backing roll or the cooling cylinder dips into a liquid in a segment-like manner, and means mounting the slotted nozzles or wipers below and above the liquid level and near the sheet of material on the segment surface of said backing roll or cooling cylinder.

This invention relates to an improvement in an apparatus for monitoring the drawing-in operation and the tearing-off of a sheet of material in a dryer, wherein a sheet of material to be dried is guided over continuously-rotating screen-type conveyor belts, particularly jet dryers with conveyor belts positioned in several stages, and with means for transferring the sheet of material from one stage to the next-following stage, the improvement comprising a two-stage construction of the monitoring apparatus, a first stage comprising a first partial means for optically monitoring the path of the sheet of material during the drawing-in operation, and a second stage comprising a second partial means for monitoring the tension of the sheet of material in running operation, said first partial means releasing said second partial means upon completion of a malfunction-free drawing-in operation.
