A bedside patient monitor comprises a clinician support system. The clinician support system comprises at least one of the following modules of: a disease-specified decision module (), disease-specified treatment module () or disease-specified observation module (). The bedside monitor comprises a first interface () for manual patient-related input and a second interface () for continuous input of a sensor signal. The clinician is supported to deliver requested information and execute the treatment in a predetermined way supported by the clinician support system.

A patient monitoring system includes a display that displays a plurality of sectors including one or more icons. A controller is configured to display patient data received from a patient monitoring system in a corresponding sector of the display. The controller programmed to determine patient status from the patient data and display the patient status as an icon on the display. The icon is color-coded with the severity or deviation from normal of the patient status. The icon can also include an arrow that indicates if the patient status is improving or deteriorating.

In order to automatically control the state of the alarm limit, the controlling device () comprises a receiving unit () configured for receiving information indicating an administration of a treatment to the patient, a determining unit () configured for determining whether the treatment is administered to the patient based on the received information, and a controlling unit () configured for controlling the state of the alarm limit based on a result of the determination of the determining unit ().

A medical monitoring device includes a system for monitoring and recording physiological parameters of a patient. Alternatively or additionally, the representation also contains a display showing the respective thresholds during said predetermined period of time, in relation to time.
