An elevator system includes at least two independently operable elevator cars in each elevator shaft of the system. The elevator shaft may include a first and a second region, with the first region extending from a ground level to sub-ground levels, and with the second region extending from the ground level to a top floor. A first elevator car may move within the first region and a second elevator car may move within the second region, in the same shaft independently of each other.

Multicar zoned elevator system

An elevator system includes at least two independently operable elevator cars in an elevator shaft. The elevator system controls loading of one of the car at ground floor level by moving the other car to a level below the ground floor level.

Zoned elevator system

An elevator system including an elevator shaft and at least one elevator cab which can move in the elevator shaft. The elevator system has a distributed control system having a first evaluation unit, respectively associated with the at least one elevator cab, and has at least one second evaluation unit, associated with the elevator shaft. A bus link connects the first evaluation unit and the at least one second evaluation unit to one another. The first evaluation unit has a set of limit curves containing limit curves for the actuation of a braking device and/or a safety gripping device that are calculated and scaled in line with a current operating state, the first evaluation unit being configured to trigger the safety gripping device or the braking device if one of the limit curves is exceeded. Defined ends of the limit curves limit a scope of movement for the at least one elevator cab.

Elevator system with virtual landing

The invention relates to an elevator unit including an elevator car which is movable in an elevator shaft and is equipped with a braking device and a catching device encompassing catching elements. The elevator unit further includes a system for detecting signals used for determining an absolute position of the elevator car, a control circuit for detecting signals used for determining the speed or deceleration of the elevator car, and a circuit for evaluating the signals of the detection system and the control circuit. Based on the input signals, the evaluation circuit evaluates whether the speed of the elevator car lies within a predefined interval in the determined position and causes the braking device to be actuated via a first output of the evaluation circuit and/or the catching device to be triggered via a second output of the evaluation circuit according to the result of the evaluation.

Safety evaluation and control system for elevator units

An elevator system comprises at least two independently operable elevator cars in each of a plurality of elevator shafts within a building. The elevator system comprises at least one first elevator shaft having a lower first and a lower second region, where a first elevator car moves within the lower first region of the first elevator shaft and a second elevator car moves within the lower second region. The first and second elevators are moveably controlled independently of each other within the first shaft. The system also includes at least one second elevator shaft having an upper first and an upper second region, where a third elevator car moves within the upper first region of the second elevator shaft and a fourth elevator car moving within the upper second region. The third and fourth elevator cars also are moveably controlled independently of each other.

Twin elevator systems

The invention relates to an elevator system with at least one shaft, in which at least two cars can be made to travel along a common traveling path, and also with a shaft information system for determining the positions and speeds of the cars, which is connected to an electrical safety device. In order to develop the elevator system in such a way that a high handling capacity can be achieved with constructionally simple means, while reliably preventing car collisions, it is proposed according to the invention that an emergency stop of at least one car is triggerable independently of the control units by means of the safety device if the distance between a first car and a second car or an end of the traveling path goes below a preselectable critical distance, and that the safety gear of at least one car is triggerable if the distance which this car assumes from the neighboring car or an end of the traveling path goes below a preselected minimum distance, the control units of at least all the cars of one traveling path being connected to one another and altogether forming a group control device.

Elevator system

The invention relates to a method for controlling an elevator installation with at least one shaft and a number of cars, it being possible to make at least two cars travel separately up and down along a common traveling path and a passenger being able to enter a destination call by means of an input unit disposed outside the shaft and the destination call being allocated to a car in dependence on an allocation assessment. To develop the method in such a way that the transporting capacity can be increased, with the cars which can be made to travel along a common traveling path hindering one another as little as possible, it is proposed according to the invention that, in the case of allocation of the destination call to one of the cars which can be made to travel along the common traveling path, the portion of the traveling path required for serving the destination call is assigned to this car and blocked for the time of the assignment for the other cars. Furthermore, an elevator installation for carrying out the method is proposed.
