A method of treating a surface of a fiber, e.g. cellulosic fiber, with a finish in which the surface finish is applied as an aqueous emulsion stabilized at a first pH value and at the latest when applied to the fiber the emulsion is caused to destabilize by a change in the first pH value. The invention also relates to cellulosic fiber and threads thereof and to tampons made from cellulosic fiber.

The staple fiber bundles are held together by the adhesive before mixing into a matrix material and separate into individual fibers on mixing into the matrix material. Recycling materials comprising cellulosic and synthetic fibers Described is a process for recycling materials comprising fiber mixtures comprising cellulose fibers, comprising the steps of: i) providing fiber mixtures comprising cellulosic fibers and fibers composed of synthetic polymers, and ii) subjecting these mixtures to a microbial hydrolysis in which the cellulosic fibers are completely degraded. The process makes it possible in particular to separate fiber mixtures. For this, the microorganisms and the hydrolyzate are removed in a conventional manner following step ii), and the remaining synthetic polymers are carried off in a conventional manner to be further recycled.

The aramid fibers contain at least three elements including an anionic antistat based on phosphoric, phosphonic, or phosphoric and phosphonic esters; a compound of the formula .sup.1 --COO--(CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --O--).sub.x --R.sup.2 ; and a compound of the formula R.sup.2 --O--(R.sup.4 --O).sub.y --R.sup.5, wherein R.sup.1 is alkyl or alkenyl, x is an integer from 2 to 20 R.sup.2 is hydrogen or alkyl, R.sup.3 is alkyl or alkenyl, y is an integer from to 8, R.sup.4 is ethylene, propylene, or butylene, and R.sup.5 is alkyl.
