A device is disclosed for maintaining the pressurized gas source at a desired temperature in an inflatable, vehicle passenger, safety cushion system. The gas source is heated by a heating source such as the engine cooling water, air heated by the exhaust, or electrical energy, for example. A control system enables heating when the temperature of the gas source is below the desired temperature and disables heating when the gas source temperature is above the desired temperature.

Temperature maintaining device for safety gas cushion

A safety steering for motor vehicles with a plastically deformable deformation member arranged between the steering wheel and the upper end of the steering spindle and with an automatically inflatable gas cushion arranged on the inside of the deformation member which is automatically inflated when the deceleration of the vehicle exceeds a predetermined value.

Safety steering for motor vehicle

A system for warning when the liquid level of a air bag gas source as dropped to a predetermined level, such that the gas source would not be adequate to properly inflate the bag upon actuation. The source is mounted to rotate with a steering wheel. An electrically conductive float floats in the liquid such that it always remains at the upper portion of the source. The float comes into contact with contacts in the gas source, when the liquid level drops to the predetermined level, to complete an electric circuit to a signaling device and/or a drive disabling device.

Monitoring system for a steering wheel mounted air bag gas source

A gas cushion for the protection of the passengers of vehicles, especially of motor vehicles, which is automatically inflatable upon exceeding a predetermined deceleration of the vehicle by means of a gas generator; the gas cushion is accommodated in a hollow space, for example, of the steering wheel or of the instrument panel opposite the passengers whereby the hollow space is closed off by a cover which is adapted to be pushed out when the gas cushion is set into operation; means are thereby provided which open the cover independently of the inflating gas cushion as a function of the response of a sensor serving to set the gas generator into operation.
