A hydraulic camshaft adjuster adjusts the control time of gas exchange of an internal combustion engine. A reservoir for storing pressure medium is formed on a cover of the hydraulic camshaft adjuster. An overflow opening of the cover is dimensioned such that a volume of pressure medium remains in the reservoir when the hydraulic camshaft adjuster is stationary. This ensures that pressure medium is supplied to the return valve of a central locking mechanism when the engine is running.

Hydraulic camshaft adjuster, and method for operating the hydraulic camshaft adjuster

A hydraulic vane-type camshaft adjuster, having a stator and a rotor arranged therein such that the rotor can rotate during control mode, wherein the rotor and the stator form at least two working chambers and are separated by a vane. A locking pin immobilizes the rotor in a rotationally fixed manner in relation to the stator wherein the locking pin is connected to an active accumulator, which deflects the pin if required. The active accumulator is arranged below a rotation axis on a camshaft. A method is also provided.

Multi-locking of a camshaft adjuster, and method for operating a camshaft adjuster

A cam shaft phaser, including: a stator including stops; a rotor rotatable with respect to the stator and including a plurality vanes extending radially outward from a body; a plurality of channels, each channel passing through a respective vane included in the plurality of vanes; and a plurality of pairs of advance and retard chambers at least partially formed by the plurality of radially inwardly extending stops and the plurality of vanes. Advance and retard chambers for each pair of advance and retard chambers are separated in a first circumferential direction by a respective vane from the plurality of vanes. Each channel connects the advance and retard chambers for said each pair of advance and retard chambers. The first plurality of channels are arranged to enable fluid flow through the first plurality of channels to displace the rotor from at least one circumferential position to a mid-lock or retard-lock position.

A camshaft adjuster has multiple locking guide slots and multiple locking pins spring-loaded in the direction of engagement with the locking guide slots and which, by varying assignment to the rotor and to the stator, are arranged relative to one another such that the rotor can, under the action of fluctuating torques, be automatically locked into the predetermined center position relative to the stator proceeding from a first early or late stop position by a successive engagement of the locking pins into the locking guide slots. The locking pins and the locking guide slots are arranged so that, in the event of a rotation of the rotor in the direction of the center locking position proceeding from the respective other second early or late stop position, the locking pins lock into the locking guide slots in the reverse sequence from different directions.

Camshaft adjusting system

A camshaft unit includes a camshaft having a radial channel, a hydraulic phase setting device communicating with the radial channel for adjusting the phase length of the camshaft with respect to a crankshaft via hydraulic pressure medium and a pressure medium channel embodied as a solid cylinder head component. To transfer a pressure medium, at least one pressure medium transfer element is formed between the pressure medium channel and the radial channel. The pressure medium transfer element includes a ring channel including a ring channel opening extending in the peripheral direction of the ring channel and including a radial channel opening leading into a radial channel and opposite the ring channel opening. The pressure medium channel communicates with the radial channel via the ring channel opening and the radial channel opening.

A control valve for a device for variably setting control times of gas exchange valves of an internal combustion engine. The control valve has a valve housing, which is hollow, and at least one inflow connection, at least one exhaust connection, and at least two working connections; a hydraulic medium conduction insert disposed in the valve housing and implemented as hollow, having hydraulic medium conduction channels, which are disposed in the wall of the hydraulic medium conduction insert and communicate with the working connections; and a control piston, which is disposed in the hydraulic medium conduction insert. The hydraulic medium conduction insert has a guide sleeve, in which the control piston is guided. The guide sleeve has a plastic encapsulation, in which at least two of the hydraulic medium conduction channels are disposed, and a filter fabric is provided between the plastic encapsulation and the guide sleeve.
