A method for setting the transmitted power of a mobile communication device, particularly for a UMTS, involves setting a transmitted power with great accuracy and a good signal-to-noise ratio. The difference between a measurement of the transmitted power of the signal that is applied to the output antenna and a desired value for transmitted power according to power commands from the base station is used to produce the desired transmitted power.

In a method for determining filter coefficients of a digital filter, particularly in UMTS, the predetermined filter coefficients bv are divided by a same scaling factor s and then quantized in that counted from the most significant bit onwards only a certain number n of '1' bits is used and in that the quantization error E(s) is minimized by the selection of the scaling factor s0 and these scaled and quantized filter coefficients &#x3b2;v are implemented in the filter.

A data processing device and adjusting method for adjusting the timing of a higher-rate stream of second data samples derived from a lower-rate stream of first data samples are described. A predetermined one of the first data samples is stored and first predetermined ones of the second data samples derived from the stored predetermined one of the first data samples are skipped to obtain an acceleration of the time base. Then, second predetermined ones of the second data samples following the skipped first predetermined ones of the second data samples are replaced by new second data samples derived from the stored predetermined one of the first data samples.
