In a bearing and drive structure for the spinning rotor of an open-end spinning turbine in which the rotor is carried by an elastically mounted bearing, the structure including a stator having a portion disposed adjacent a portion of the stator; the stator and rotor portions together defining an electrical drive for the spinning rotor and being separated from one another by a motor air gap, the rotation of the rotor is stabilized by the provision of mutually facing, circumferentially extending surfaces on, respectively, the rotor and a stationary body adjacent the rotor and forming a stabilizing air gap smaller than the motor air gap.

Bearing and drive arrangement for an open-end spinning turbine

In a bearing for the rotor of a rotary device, preferably a spinning turbine, the bearing being composed of an oil-lubricated slide bearing bush and a journal pin connected to the rotor and mounted to the bush for rotation relative thereto, the bush presenting a cylindrical surface providing support for the pin in the radial direction, and elements for yieldingly mounting the bush, there is further provided a bearing mounted to rotate with the rotor and having an axial end face forming, with an axial end face of the bush, an axial slide bearing for the rotor, the axial bearing receiving a supply of lubricating oil during rotation of the device, and a structure defining a narrow annular gap in the vicinity of, and spaced radially outwardly from, the axial slide bearing to provide a constricted region adjacent the axial bearing at which lubricating oil ejected from the axial bearing accumulates.

Rotor bearing

In an open end spinning unit having a stationary frame member and a spinning rotor rotatably supported by the frame member, and in which, during operation of the unit, a flow of gas occurs from the yarn removal opening and fiber inlet opening of the unit to a gas extraction opening thereof, the gas traversing a path surrounding the rotor, a gas flow controlling structure is disposed around the rotor to define a narrow gap with the exterior surface of a portion of the rotor, so that the space adjacent the remainder of the rotor is in communication with the gas flow path only via the narrow gap.
