An active road noise control system method for a vehicle includes picking up noise at a multiplicity of positions in or on the vehicle and generating a multiplicity of noise sense signals representative of road noise originating from a road noise source in or at the vehicle, and processing, according to a beamforming scheme, the multiplicity of noise sense signals to generate a reference signal and to provide a sensitivity characteristic for picking up the noise that comprises one main lobe directed to the road noise source. The system and method further includes iteratively and adaptively processing the reference signal to provide a noise reducing signal, and generating at one or more positions in an interior of the vehicle, from the noise reducing signal, noise reducing sound at a listening position in the interior of the vehicle.

Active road noise control

Systems and methods are provided for acoustic echo canceling. In one embodiment, a system for canceling acoustic echoes comprises one or more microphones configured to pick up sound generated by a sound source and transferred from the sound source to the one or more microphones via one or more unknown transfer paths having one or more unknown transfer functions, and to provide one or more electrical microphone signals therefrom, one or more adaptive filters for approximating the one or more unknown transfer functions with one or more estimated transfer functions and filtering one or more electrical signals representative of the sound generated by the sound source with the one or more estimated transfer functions to provide one or more estimated signals therefrom, and a microphone calibration block configured to individually attenuate or amplify the one or more electrical microphone signals dependent on the one or more estimated transfer functions.

Acoustic echo canceling

The present invention provides a method and system with a plurality of voice command devices, wherein each of the voice command devices comprises a processor unit, a transceiver coupled to the processor unit and configured to couple to a network, one or more microphones, each configured to capture an audio signal, and at least one loudspeaker, and wherein the processor unit is configured to detect a speech signal in the captured audio signals; upon detection of a speech signal, transmit directivity information with respect to the one or more microphones to a software as a service, SaaS, provider via the network using the transceiver; and receive directivity information with respect to the plurality of voice command devices from the SaaS provider via the network using the transceiver.

Sound capturing which includes applying a far-field microphone functionality to a multiplicity of first microphone signals to provide a first output signal, and applying a less directional microphone functionality to one or more second microphone signals to provide a second output signal.

An automatic noise control system and method for a helmet with a rigid shell that is configured to spatially divide a shell interior from a shell ambiance include generating in connection with at least one loudspeaker disposed in the shell interior anti-sound in the shell interior based on at least one input signal. The anti-sound is configured to attenuate sound occurring in the shell interior through destructive superposition. The system and method further include providing the at least one input signal by at least one of picking up sound in the vicinity of the loudspeaker in the shell interior, picking up vibrations of the shell, and picking up sound in the vicinity of the shell exterior.

Active noise control for a helmet

An array of audio transducers includes an optical emitter, for example, and without limitation, a light emitting diode (LED), associated with each transducer. Simultaneous stimulation of all transducers illuminates all LED's. An imager then creates a map of the transducer array. Stimulation of a single transducer, illuminating the associated LED, creates an optical signature that imaging software uses to determine the position of the transducer within the array. The system then verifies the correspondence between each transducer and the associated driver amplifier by sequential stimulation of each transducer within the array. The system may vary the frequency of the stimulation applied to transducers that include filtering networks, known as crossovers, to validate performance. Further, the system may compute the angles between transducer assemblies that may be deployed in non-planar configurations, thus ensuring that the installation is constructed to specifications.

Techniques for analyzing connectivity within an audio transducer array

An infotainment system for a vehicle may include a controllable audio reproduction arrangement that is configured to be fixed in the vehicle and to acoustically reproduce an audio signal under the control of a control signal. It may further include a portable device that is freely movable in the vehicle and that is configured to provide the audio and control signals for the audio reproduction arrangement, as well as a wireless connection between the portable device and the audio reproduction arrangement configured to transmit the audio and control signals from the portable device to the audio reproduction arrangement. The audio reproduction arrangement has amplification, quiescent power consumption and a maximum output power, of which at least one is controllable by the portable device via the control signal.

Infotainment system

An active road-noise control system and method include using a sensor arrangement to generate a first sense signal representative of at least one acceleration, motion and/or vibration that occurs at a first position on a vehicle body and a second sense signal representative of sound that occurs at a second position within the vehicle body; they also provide a noise-reducing signal by processing the sense signals according to a first or a second mode of operation. They include the generation of noise-reducing sound within the vehicle body at the second position from the noise reducing signal and the operational state of the sensor arrangement; the first sense signal and the second sense signal are processed in the first mode when the sensor arrangement is in a proper operational state and in the second mode when a malfunction of the sensor arrangement has been detected.

Noise and vibration sensing

An example headphone arrangement includes at least one earphone. The at least one earphone includes a sealed housing having an aperture and a tube with a longitudinal axis. The tube is curved along its longitudinal axis to form a closed or open ring configured to totally or partly surround an ear of a user. A speaker is mounted to the housing at the aperture so that the housing in connection with the speaker encloses a closed acoustic volume.

Headphone arrangement

A noise and vibration measurement arrangement, system, and method are disclosed. The arrangement is configured to operate with an active road noise control system. The arrangement includes an energy harvester, an acceleration sensor, a signal processor, and a signal transmitter. The energy harvester obtains electrical energy from an ambient energy source. The acceleration sensor is configured to generate a sense signal. The signal processor is configured to provide a processed sense signal. The signal processor includes a normal mode of operation and an energy saving mode of operation. The signal transmitter includes a normal mode of operation and an energy saving mode. The energy controller evaluates the electrical energy from the energy harvester to operate in the energy saving mode when the electrical energy is below a predetermined energy level and to operate in the normal mode when the electrical energy is above the predetermined energy level.

Wireless noise and vibration sensing

Active noise reduction systems and methods for a helmet with a rigid shell that spatially divides a shell interior from a shell ambiance include receiving at least one desired-sound signal representative of at least one desired sound pattern occurring in the shell ambience, and generating, based on the at least one desired-sound signal, anti-sound that is configured to interact with internal sound occurring in the shell interior through superposition. The internal sound includes first internal sound components and second internal sound components, the first internal sound components not corresponding to the at least one desired sound pattern and the second internal sound components corresponding to the at least one desired sound pattern. The anti-sound is further configured to attenuate the first internal sound components, and to amplify, not attenuate, or attenuate to a lesser degree than the first internal sound components the second internal sound components.

Active noise and awareness control for a helmet

An example active road noise control includes generating with a sensor arrangement a primary sense signal representative of at least one of accelerations, motions and vibrations that occur at a first position, and providing a noise reducing signal by processing the primary sense signal according to an adaptive mode of operation or a non-adaptive mode of operation. It further includes generating within the vehicle body noise reducing sound at the second position from the noise reducing signal, evaluating the primary sense signal and controlling the processing of the primary sense signal so that the primary sense signal is processed in the adaptive mode of operation when the magnitude of the primary sense signal undercuts a first threshold and in the non-adaptive mode of operation when the magnitude of the primary sense signal exceeds a second threshold, the first threshold being equal to or smaller than the second threshold.

The audio amplifier includes a variable gain amplifier receiving the input audio signal and providing the output signal, whereby the output signal corresponds to the input signal amplified by a limiter gain. The audio amplifier further includes a limiter gain calculation unit, thus the input signal is amplified by the limiter gain. A control unit receives a signal representative of the input signal and is configured to estimate, based on a mathematical model, the input current or the total output current of the audio amplifier thus providing an estimated current signal corresponding to (and resulting from) the output signal, whereby the limiter gain calculation unit is configured to calculate, dependent on the estimation, the limiter gain such that the actual input current or the total output current of the audio amplifier does not exceed a threshold current value.

Amplifier current consumption control

The present invention relates to a Peripheral Sensor Interface (PSI5) system. The PSI5 system includes a PSI5 controller and an audio converter. The audio converter is configured to receive signals from the PSI5 controller and to convert the received signals into audio signals.
