Among other things, a rowing technology includes a first rowing machine having an electromagnetic brake providing a resistance to a rower of the machine in each rowing stroke of a series of rowing strokes of the rower An electronic controller causes the resistance of the electromagnetic brake to vary over each rowing stroke in a profile that emulates resistance to which another rower in a shell on water or on a second rowing machine is subjected in each rowing stroke of a corresponding series of rowing strokes.

An exercise apparatus includes a frame and a load mechanism disposed on the frame. The load mechanism has a plurality of selectable weights with each of the selectable weights having an associated indicator device. A press is mechanically coupled to the load mechanism to displace a load based on a selected weight and a sensor is disposed to measure an extent and speed of displacement of the load. A processor is in communication with the sensor, and the processor is configured to determine an indicator signal to send to the indicator device of one of the plurality of selectable weights of the load mechanism based on received performance data, the indicator signal used to indicate which one of the plural of weights to select.

Exercising apparatus

An apparatus and method is disclosed for enabling an operator to exercise comprising a frame with a load positioned on the frame to provide a resistive force. A press is positioned on the frame for displacement by the operator. A linkage joins the load with the press for displacing the load upon displacement of the press by the operator. A display is provided for inputting and outputting data. A sensor is positioned on the frame for measuring a displacement and a speed of the linkage. A memory storage is provided for storing data. A processor communicates with the display and the sensor and the memory storage for processing data. The processor transfers data to the display for providing an exercising instruction to the operator. The processor receives data from the sensor for processing the performance of the exercising instruction by the operator. The processor transfers data to the memory storage for saving the performance of the exercising instruction by the operator.

A latch mechanism secures a computer component to a chassis; the mechanism includes a base that is attached to the computer component, a latch handle pivotably mounted on the base, the latch handle being capable of pivoting away from the base. An actuator arm is pivotably mounted to the latch handle so that when the latch is pivoted away from the base, the actuator arm will also move away from the base. A cam plate is also pivotably mounted on the base and is capable of rotating with respect to the base. The cam plate includes at least one notch adapted to cooperate with the chassis so that as the cam plate is rotated, the notch selectively engages and disengages with the chassis.

Latching mechanism for securing a computer component into a housing

A measuring apparatus and method for measuring power in a bicycle are described. The hub of the driven wheel of the bicycle includes one or more components such as an inner hub member, an outer hub member or a linking member which couple the rotational torque through the wheel to rotate the wheel. A sensor such as one or more strain gauges is mounted on one of the components that couple torque through the wheel such that strain in the torque coupling component is detected. The detected strain is used to determine applied torque which is used to determine power applied to the driven wheel of the bicycle. Because the torque coupling component is mounted in the hub in the path along which torque is coupled through the wheel, the sensor rotates with the wheel as it detects the applied torque.
