A unit for producing and processing phosgene, said unit being configured for at least one maintenance mode and at least one production mode and comprising a structure which defines a confined space in a production mode, said confined space being sub-divided into at least two sub-spaces, wherein (i) at least one sub-space contains at least one apparatus for producing phosgene; (ii) at least one sub-space, other than the at least one sub-space according to (i), contains at least one apparatus for processing phosgene; (iii) the structure comprises at least one openable and lockable access means for temporary access of at least one of the apparatuses according to (i) or (ii) from outside the structure in a maintenance mode.

Phosgene production unit

The present invention relates to a process for preparing phosgene by reacting chlorine with carbon monoxide over an activated carbon catalyst, wherein the content of chlorine oxides in the chlorine feed stream is low, to an apparatus for preparation of phosgene and to the use of the phosgene prepared by the process of the invention.

Method for producing phosgene

An apparatus contains at least one pressure-rated apparatus shell and at least one modular framework system containing ceramic fiber composite materials and arranged within the apparatus shell. A modular lining apparatus includes the modular framework system and refractory bricks. Installing monoliths in a reactor for conducting heterogeneously catalyzed gas phase reactions

A reactor for gas-phase dehydrogenation of a hydrocarbon-comprising stream with an oxygen-comprising stream over a monolithic heterogeneous catalyst. Catalytically active zone(s) comprising monoliths packed next to one another and/or above one another and a mixing zone having fixed internals upstream of each catalytically active zone. Feed line(s) for the hydrocarbon-comprising gas stream to be dehydrogenated at the lower end of the reactor. Independently regulable feed line(s), which supply distributor(s), for the oxygen-comprising gas stream into each of the mixing zones and discharge line(s) for the reaction gas mixture of the autothermal gas-phase dehydrogenation at the upper end of the reactor. The interior wall of the reactor is provided with insulation. The catalytically active zone(s) is accessible from the outside of the reactor via manhole(s). The catalytically active zone(s), mixing zone, independently regulable feed line(s), and distributor(s), may be designed as one component which can individually be mounted and removed.

Reactor for carrying out an autothermal gas-phase dehydrogenation

Apparatus for preparing maleic anhydride by heterogeneously catalyzed gas-phase oxidation of a stream containing hydrocarbons having at least 4 carbon atoms per molecule, which includes a reactor with reaction tubes into which a solid-state catalyst over which the exothermic reaction of the stream with an oxygen-comprising gas stream takes place is introduced and one or more pumps and heat exchangers located outside the reactor and through which a heat transfer medium formed by a salt melt flows through the intermediate space in the reactor between the reaction tubes and takes up the heat of reaction, with the temperature of the melt being in the range from 350 to 480&#xb0; C. Process for preparing isocyanates

The present invention relates to gas phase phosgenation of amines for preparation of isocyanates. In the present invention, phosgene is prepared by reacting chlorine with an excess of carbon monoxide in a gas phase. The obtained phosgene-containing reaction mixture is divided into two streams by a thermal and/or a membrane separating process. The first stream is a low-carbon monoxide stream of no more than 1% by weight of carbon monoxide, based on a total weight of the first stream. The second stream is a carbon monoxide-rich stream of more than 10% by weight of carbon monoxide, based on a total weight of the second stream. The first stream is used as the phosgene-containing reactant stream in the gas phase phosgenation of amines to prepare isocyanates. The second stream can be recycled into the phosgene synthesis.

A reactor () for preparing phosgene by gas-phase reaction of carbon monoxide and chlorine in the presence of a solid-state catalyst, which is provided in a plurality of catalyst tubes () which are arranged parallel to one another in the longitudinal direction of the reactor () and are welded at each of their two ends into a tube plate (), with introduction of the starting materials at the upper end of the catalyst tubes () and discharge of the gaseous reaction mixture at the lower end of the catalyst tubes (), in each case via a cap, and also with introduction and discharge facilities for a liquid heat transfer medium () in the space () between the catalyst tubes () within the shell, where the flow of the heat transfer medium () in the space () between the catalyst tubes () within the shell is meandering as a result of deflection plates (), each alternative deflection plate () leaves two openings () having the shape of a segment of a circle free on opposite sides at the interior wall of the reactor and the immediately subsequent deflection plate leaves a central opening () which is bounded by two straight lines which are parallel to and equidistant from one another and a reactor diameter free and the reactor () has no tubes in the region of the openings () having the shape of a segment of a circle and in the region of the central openings (), wherein the many catalyst tubes () aligned parallel to one another in the longitudinal direction of the reactor () are arranged in two bundles of identical catalyst tubes () which are separated from one another by a region which is free of catalyst tubes () and extends to both sides along a reactor diameter and the heat transfer coefficients at the interface between the catalyst tubes () and the heat transfer medium () are equalized over each reactor cross section by the flow paths of the heat transfer medium () in each reactor cross section, in each case measured from the first to last catalyst tube () in the flow direction of the heat transfer medium (), being matched to one another by means of an altered arrangement of the catalyst tubes (), is proposed.

Reactor and process for preparing phosgene

The invention relates to a process for the autothermal gas-phase dehydrogenation of a hydrocarbon-comprising gas stream by means of an oxygen-comprising gas stream over a heterogeneous catalyst configured as a monolith to give a reaction gas mixture and regeneration of the catalyst in a reactor in the form of a cylinder or prism, wherein the reactor is operated alternately in the production mode of the autothermal gas-phase dehydrogenation and in the regeneration mode.

A process for preparing phosgene by reaction of a feed stream () obtained by combining and mixing a chlorine feed stream () and a carbon monoxide feed stream (), with the carbon monoxide being introduced in a stoichiometric excess over chlorine, in catalyst tubes filled with beds of activated carbon in a reactor R having a bundle of catalyst tubes, to give a product gas mixture () which is separated into a liquid, phosgene-comprising product stream () and an offgas stream () comprising carbon monoxide which is discharged via a pressure-regulating valve, where the reaction of the feed stream () in the reactor R and the separation of the product gas mixture () are carried out under a pressure in the range fromtobar gauge pressure, wherein the excess of carbon monoxide in the feed stream () to the reactor R is regulated by continuously measuring the flow and the concentration of carbon monoxide in the offgas stream (), calculating the actual value of the excess of carbon monoxide in the feed stream () to the reactor R from these measurements in combination with the continuously measured values for the flow of the carbon monoxide feed stream () and the flow of and the chlorine concentration in the chlorine feed stream () and matching this to the intended value of the excess of carbon monoxide in the feed stream () to the reactor R by adapting the flow of the carbon monoxide feed stream (), is proposed.
