A device and method for testing a fiber-composite component, which is to be processed by means of bonding, for the presence of at least one substance out of a selection of possible contaminants. A surface heating device for regional heating of a part-zone of the fiber-composite component to be bonded is performed for desorption of contaminants. A sensor array with a plurality of sensors detects contaminants in the gas phase, and a control device ascertains and signals contaminations which are found. An extractor device can be employed to extract machining dust from the fiber-composite component to a desorption device.

Device for inspecting a fibre-composite component for contaminations

A device for the regeneration of a biosensor having an immobilized and biologically active material applied to the surface of a carrier that is suitable for interacting with a substance to be analyzed. The device comprises at least one injector through which, by means of a pump, at least one solution can be applied to the surface of the carrier for the purposes of rinsing the biologically active material.

Device and method for the regeneration of biosensors

The invention relates to a membrane. Partly permeable membranes often have holes or perforations having a specific diameter to allow substances having a smaller particle diameter to pass through, but to hold back substances having a larger particle diameter. Such membranes are subject to wear primarily at the holes, i.e. cracks form which grow through the membrane proceeding from a hole. Particularly in the case of micromechanical membranes having holes having a small diameter in the range of 1 &#x3bc;m or less, it is very difficult to detect the state of the membrane, in particular whether the latter has cracks. Membranes having cracks can then undesirably allow passage even of those particles which should actually be held back. In medical or hygienic applications, the function can then be impaired.

Microthruster includes a combustion chamber comprising a substrate material, a fuel inlet, and a gas outlet. A first resistance heater is arranged in the combustion chamber. A catalyst is structured and arranged to decompose fuel entering the combustion chamber. First substrate material sections are heated by the first resistance heater to at least one of a predetermined temperature and a predetermined temperature range.

Microthruster

A device for monitoring particle contamination in flowing hydraulic fluids includes a mechanism for particle counting and particle sizing. Further, a method for monitoring particle contamination in flowing hydraulic fluids: determines fluid flow velocity; counts particles in the hydraulic fluid passing the light barrier for a fixed period of time; and obtains particle size distribution by using a range of different trigger levels. The monitoring device is insertable into an A/C hydraulic system to enable an online-monitoring of degradation of fluid quality during normal flight operations or on the ground. The device and method help lower costs for A/C maintenance and increase A/C availability since necessary service actions can be scheduled strategically.

Device and method for monitoring the particle contamination in flowing hydraulic fluids

A high-temperature pressure sensor element for power units includes a substrate, in which an interior space is developed, a deformable membrane, which separates the interior space from the exterior space in order to deform when the exterior pressure changes, and a strain measuring element, which is arranged on the membrane, for measuring the deformation of the membrane. The substrate, the membrane, and the strain measuring element are manufactured from the same high-temperature-stable material, such as an alloy. By way of example a nickel base alloy may be used. A component for a power unit, such as a turbine blade for an airplane or rocket engine, includes an integrated high-temperature pressure sensor element of this type.

A device for detecting chemical or biological substances includes an analytical instrument for detecting the substances and for providing information concerning the qualitative or quantitative presence of the substances, and also a contamination sensor for measuring the degree of contamination of the analytical instrument and/or of the device.

Apparatus for detection of chemical or biological substances and method for cleaning the apparatus

A semiconducting gas sensor includes a gas-sensitive layer, a heater for heating the layer to a defined measuring temperature, and contact electrodes for measuring the electrical resistance of the gas-sensitive layer enclosed within a microchamber, in which the gas-sensitive layer is arranged. The chamber can be sealed from the outside, and is constructed so that the chamber volume is small enough to allow at least one component of the gas or gas mixture that is to be analyzed to be at least largely exhausted via conversion on the gas-sensitive layer, within a predetermined measuring interval. With the limited gas store and the conversion of a component of the gas during the measurement process, gases or gas mixtures comprising several components can be analyzed. In this, the measuring signal is reexamined following the conversion of at least one component. Within the chamber, several sensor elements may be arranged with gas-sensitive layers, and may be operated at different temperatures. One gas sensor system, for example, is comprised of at least two semiconducting gas sensors having microchambers, which are arranged within a system of gas lines and valves, and can be filled individually.

Semiconductor gas sensor, gas sensor system and method of gas analysis

A semiconductor gas sensor, for example for measuring CO, NO , O , etc., exhibits a heatable sensor element for measuring gas concentrations, and a housing in whose interior the sensor element is disposed. The housing has a first opening, which connects the interior to the exterior. The housing has one or more second openings, which lie deeper than the first opening so that a gas stream is driven by means of convection from the second opening to the first opening. The semiconductor gas sensor can be made of silicon by means of micro engineering.

Device for the non-contact storage of components

An igniting element, such as is used in a vehicle air bag igniter reduces the power dissipated by the air bag ignition circuit, as well as its space requirement and its costs, by using the ignition switch/switches as the ignition element (,) itself of the ignition circuit. The ignition circuit is integrated in a silicon chip, and has at least one ignition switch constructed as a transistor.

In the case of a semiconductor igniter, particularly for the gas generator of a protection system for vehicle occupants, consisting of a semiconductor layer which is arranged on a carrier with the insertion of a thermal insulation layer, is connected at the end side to electric contact areas and during the current passage in the ignition path range heats up in an ignition-triggering manner, while maintaining a high ignition efficiency, a mechanically secure linking of the semiconductor layer to the carrier is achieved in that the thermal insulation layer is limited to the ignition path range of the semiconductor layer and the semiconductor layer is connected directly with the carrier at its end sections kept free of the thermal insulation layer.
