A housing element for a writing instrument includes a hollow, sleeve-shaped, elongated base body having an opening for receiving the writing instrument or a pencil lead of the writing instrument at a first longitudinal end. The base body has a second longitudinal end, which is opposite the first longitudinal end, and has a retaining recess that is formed with a polygonal cross section for directly or indirectly retaining a bit in a rotationally fixed manner. A writing instrument including the housing element is also provided.

A pencil holder for storing a pencil includes a hollow basic body which has an elongated interior that opens out in an insertion opening for partially receiving the pencil. In the region of the insertion opening the basic body merges into a least one retaining tongue which juts out from the basic body in the longitudinal direction and which is set up for the purpose of holding the pencil on the basic body as a result of clamping.

An applicator device comprises a front portion and a gripping portion which are rotatable relative to each other to displace a stick of spreadable material axially by means of a screwthreaded spindle. At its rear part which is towards the gripping portion the front portion has a coupling part for non-rotatable connection to a nut member disposed in the gripping portion. The nut member has radially elastically resilient claw portions which can be brought into engagement with the screwthread of the screwthreaded spindle by the coupling part of the front portion bearing against the claws. The claw portions are disengaged from the screwthreaded spindle when the front portion is removed from the gripping portion. Disposed in the gripping portion between a part thereof and the screwthreaded spindle is a spring which, after being mechanically stressed in the forward feed movement of the screwthread spindle, moves the screwthreaded spindle back into its starting position in the gripping portion when the front portion is removed from the gripping portion.

Refilling container for refilling a writing, painting or drawing

An applicator device comprises a front portion and a gripping portion which are rotatable relative to each other to displace a stick of spreadable material axially by means of a screwthreaded spindle. The stick is disposed in a stick tube limitedly axially movable with respect to the front portion, and a first spring is disposed between the stick tube and the front portion. At its rear part which is towards the gripping portion the front portion has a coupling part for non-rotatable connection to a nut member disposed in the gripping portion. The nut member has radially elastically resilient claw portions which can be brought into engagement with the screwthread of the screwthreaded spindle by the coupling part of the front portion bearing against the claws. A second spring is disposed in the gripping portion to urge the screwthreaded spindle rearwardly therein.

An applicator insert for an applicator implement comprises an applicator member with capillary spaces, which is slidably accommodated in a holder in the form of a tubular sleeve. The sleeve has a front end portion of an internal cross-section which matches the applicator member to guide same and a rearward end portion of an internal cross-section which is larger than the cross-section of the applicator member. Disposed in the space between the rearward sleeve portion and the applicator member is a spring element having its front end portion fixed with respect to the applicator member and its rear end portion fixed with respect to the rearward sleeve portion, whereby the applicator member is sprung in relation to the sleeve.

A device for applying liquid mascara comprises a reservoir for accommodating the mascara and an applicator having an applicator surface with a ribbed profile. At least the part of the applicator which forms the applicator surface comprises a material for conveying the liquid mascara by a capillary action. That material may be a directed fibre material or a porous sintered plastic material.

A protective cap for a writing, drawing or applicator element comprises an outer casing portion and within same a closure cap portion which has a cover portion for sealingly covering over the applicator member of the implement. The cap portion is connected to the casing portion by means of ribs which define between them through openings through which the interior of the cap is in fluid communication with the exterior thereof. The through openings are of an overall cross-section of at least 5 mm.sup.2 in order at least to reduce the risk of asphyxiation if the cap is unintentionally swallowed. The ribs are disposed in the region of the cover portion of the cap portion and are extended in the axial direction of the cap over the cover portion, whereby the through openings are oriented in particular in a radial direction.

An applicator device for a spreadable material in the form of a stick including a shaft-like gripping portion, and a screw portion connected to the gripping portion in axial alignment therewith and rotatable relative to the gripping portion. The screw portion encloses the stick of material, while secured to the screw portion within same is a screwthreaded sleeve mounted in screwthreaded engagement on a screwthreaded spindle which is mounted axially movably and non-rotatably in the gripping portion, so that the rotation of the screw portion and therewith the screwthreaded sleeve relative to the gripping portion causes axial movement of the spindle within the gripping portion. A pushing assembly engaging the stick is provided at the front end of the spindle and comprises a piston connected to the front end of the spindle and adapted to bear against the end face of the stick and a piston sleeve which surrounds the piston and embraces the end of the stick.

An applicator device for a viscous material such as a cosmetic material comprises a metering pumping means for discharge of the material, in the form of a piston-cylinder unit arranged transversely with respect to the axis of the housing of the applicator device. The piston of the unit projects out of the housing of the applicator device, so that the piston is freely accessible from the outside.

An applicator, especially for applying nail varnish, is associated with a closing cap with a reservoir for keeping the coating member moist. Located in the closing cap is a closing element which, when the closing cap is pulled off the applicator, closes the space containing the reservoir in order to prevent the reservoir from drying out.
