An arrangement for compensating the axial thrust of a fluid-flow machine is provided. A load-relieving element is non-rotatably connected to a shaft. A flow-restrict gap is formed by the load-relieving element and a counter-element secured to a housing of the fluid-flow machine. The counter-element is provided with a device for maintaining the distance between the load-relieving element and the counter-element. The device includes at least one force-generating element that generates a force that acts in opposition to the axial thrust in order to avoid component contact.

Load-relieving device

A pump station including a structure that includes at least one inlet chamber and at least one discharge chamber arranged on a different level. A separating wall is arranged within the structure between the two chambers, and at least one pump delivers a liquid from the inlet chamber through the separating wall into the discharge chamber. The discharge chamber includes a discharge opening having an upper edge which is below the liquid level that is present in a discharge downstream of the discharge chamber. The pump is provided with an upwardly extending liquid conveying device which ends in an open outlet that opens into the discharge chamber above the upper edge of the discharge opening.

Pumping station with efficiency increasing and backflow preventing structure

A fluid flow machine, particularly a centrifugal pump, wherein the casing has a tubular first portion serving to convey a stream of fluid radially toward a pump shaft which drives one or more impellers. The casing has a second portion with an arcuate band-like wall which spacedly surrounds the shaft and defines a passage having an oval cross-sectional outline and receiving fluid from the outlet of the first portion. A cylindrical outlet of the passage is adjacent the foremost impeller or the only impeller of the pump. One or more guides are provided in the passage to control the flow of fluid from the outlet of the first portion of the casing toward and into the range of the foremost impeller.
