Copolymers for use in a digital manufacturing process, in particular support materials for use in a digital manufacturing process comprising such copolymers. More particularly, the invention is directed to a copolymer, a support material based on the the copolymer, the use of the copolymer in a digital manufacturing process, a method for preparing the copolymer and a method for building a 3D-model by using a support material comprising the copolymer.

An adhesive compound consisting essentially of an organic phase and inorganic phase, the organic phase comprising an amorphous aliphatic (co)polymer having a Ring & Ball softening point of between 75 and 180&#xb0; C., and a second aliphatic material having a Tg of about &#x2212;5&#xb0; C. or lower and a kinematic viscosity of 4500 mm/s at 100&#xb0; C. or less, wherein said organic components are present in weight amounts of between 95/5 and 10/90; the inorganic phase comprising a filler, the filler being present in amount of at least about 15 wt % in the total composition. The compositions are suitable for anti-corrosion coatings or sealants against filtration or penetration of water or moisture. A rubber material may be added to this compound or other anti-corrosion coatings to increase the yield point at high temperatures.

A star polymer is produced by converting a central compound having at least three functional groups X, an arylene compound having two functional groups Y, and a terminal group compound having a functional group Z, the functional groups X of the central compound each reacting with a functional group Y of the arylene compound, forming a covalent bond, and the functional group Z of the terminal group compound reacting with a functional group Y of the arylene compound, forming a covalent bond, the terminal group compound being used in a stoichiometric quantity that corresponds essentially to the stoichiometric quantity of the functional groups X of the central compound, and to a method for producing star polymers, a polymer mixture including star polymers, and to the use of star polymers.

Star polymer

A fluorine-containing polymer segment includes at least one substituent for proton transfer that has one or more fluorine atoms. The fluorine-containing polymer segment is useful for forming hydrophilic polymer blocks that are used in block copolymers. Block copolymers useful for fuel cell applications incorporate the hydrophilic polymer blocks formed from the fluorine containing polymer segments.

A block copolymer for use as a solid polymer electrolyte, said block copolymer having at least first and second segments, the first segments being hydrophilic segments provided with acidic substituents for proton transport and the second segments being hydrophobic segments having substantially no acidic substituents and serving for the mechanical integrity of the solid polymer electrolyte. Also described and claimed are an ion-conductive membrane made from block copolymers of the aforementioned kind as well as methods of preparing such block copolymers and membranes based thereon. The membranes have improved proton conductivity and improved mechanical properties in the presence of water making them particularly suitable for use in fuel cells.
