Method and device for filling an ink supply system in an inkjet printer

A printer with a print-head distance-setting device for adjusting the distance (1) between print head (2) and print-material counter support (3) for recording-material carriers (4) of unequal thickness, resting on the print-material counter support (3), including a mechanical sensing member (5) for controlling a print head (2), adjustable in a direction perpendicular relative to the longitudinal direction of the slider carriage motion, where the print head (2) is disposed on a longitudinally movable print-head slider carriage (7), which print-head slider carriage (7) in turn is guided with a pair of parallel guide axles (9), of which one guide axle (9) is supported by way of a pair of eccentric-disposed pins (10) and of which the second guide axle (9) is cross-movably supported in the printer side walls (32). In order to achieve a simpler and more easily constructed print-head distance-setting device, which can in addition be controlled more accurately, an electrical analog signal, generatable by the setting motions of the sensing member (5), serves in a converted configuration of an electronic digital signal in an electronic circuit (11) for the control of a step motor (12), supported at a printer frame, where the step motor (12) forms a servo drive (13) for the pair of eccentric-disposed pins (10) of the guide axle (9).

Print-head positioning system having a paper sensor

A device for feeding of individual sheets to a plate (4) of an office machine, in particular of a matrix printer (1), is provided with several storage bins (5, 6). In each case a separating roller (7, 8) is coordinated to the storage bins (5, 6) and the separating roller (7, 8) is connected to a drive motor (9) via a gear train. In order to create a reliably operating storage bin selection, which can be employed for larger distances and for larger-volume storage bins, it is disclosed that the drive motor (9) can be left-hand or right-hand rotatably controlled, that the drive motor pinion (10) engages a first gear wheel (11), that an eccentrically supported cam (12) is carried by the first gear wheel (11), that the cam (12) engages into a switching rocker (13), and that at least a second gear wheel (15) is rotatably supported at the switching rocker (13) supported around a horizontal axle (14), where the second gear wheel ( 15) is tilted, depending on the rotary direction of the drive motor (9), into engagement with the respective gear wheel (16, 17) of one of the separating rollers (7, 8).

Dual sheet feed device for an office machine such as a matrix printer

A printer station (1) with output discharging device (3) for individual sheets (6) is in particular used for laser page printers. An outwardly directed output discharging device (3) follows to output roller pairs (5), as seen in transport direction (7) of the printed individual sheets (6). In order to dispose the output discharging device (3) in a space-saving fashion, and in order to create the possibility for the operator to adjust the output discharging device (3) to the local special situation, the output discharging device (3) is tiltably supported at the printer frame (4) of the printer station (1), where the output discharging device (3) is furnished with drivable friction roller pairs (13), disposed behind the output roller pairs (5), as seen in transport direction (7). The shafts (14, 15) of the friction roller pairs (13) are in each case rotatably supported at the side walls (8,9) of the tiltable output discharging device (3).

In an apparatus for the feeding of individual sheets (1) into office machines (2) in which the individual sheets (1) form a stack (3) of sheets atop which rotatively-driven fixed delivery rolls (4) rest and from which individual sheets (1) can be drawn over separating corners (5) of a paper-receiving frame (6), the stack (3) of sheets lies on a spring-action swing plate (8) between lateral paper-guide frames (7a, 7b). The invention provides for selectively alternative use, for supporting the sheet stack (3), of either the fixed paper-receiving frame (6) or of a separate and additional paper cassette (12) which is engageable with the machine (2) such that the spacing between the separating corners (30) on the cassette (12) and the circumference of the delivery rolls (4), when the cassette is mounted on the machine (2), is the same as the normal spacing between the separating corners (5) on the paper-receiving frame (6) and the circumference of the delivery rolls (4).

Apparatus for feeding individual sheets in office machines

A printed sheet delivery device (3) for a printing station (1) includes a collection tray (7) reciprocatable by a transverse-displacement drive (6) for receiving and sorting sheets (2) in stacked, printed-side-down relation in transversely staggered groups (4a). A housing (9) separate from and releasably securable to the printing station (1) is formed of a lower housing part (9a) within which the transverse-displacement drive (6) is mounted and an upper housing part (9b) that is contoured to define the collection tray (7). Slide guides (14a, 14b) carried on the bottom (13) of the upper housing part (9b) on both sides transverse to the direction (5) of sheet delivery cooperate with guide ledges (25, 26) on the lower housing part (9a) for guided transverse reciprocation of the upper housing part relative to the lower housing part.

A paper stacking apparatus is for an office machine, wherein the office machine has a forward end and a rear end and includes rollers for sequentially supplying sheets of paper upwardly along a generally vertical path. The sheets extend transversely of the office machine. The path is located between the front end and the rear end. The paper stacking apparatus includes a support frame located above the rollers for sequentially supplying said sheets. A paper guide element is mounted within the support frame in alignment with the path. A forward stacker is mounted on the support frame forwardly of the paper guide element. A rear stacker is mounted on the support frame rearwardly of the paper guide element. The paper guide element is selectively movable to a forward position and to a rear position. The paper guide element at the forward position directs the sheets to the forward stacker for forward to rear stacking of the sheets thereon. The paper guide element at the rear position directs the sheets to the rear stacker for rear to forward stacking of the sheets thereon.

A ribbon cassette having a casing with a releasable cover, includes a pulley mounted for rotation in the casing, key-means project beyond the casing of the cassette for engagement with an external drive, a pressure roller is rotatably mounted in the case, a slide movably mounts the pressure roller to obtain a first position of engagement with the pulley and a second retracted position, a projection on the slide is externally accessible through an opening in the casing for shifting the slide from the first to the second position and vice versa; an additional projection on said slide runs in another opening in the casing for guiding movement of the slide along a long wall of the cassette casing; a brake is also disposed in the cassette which holds a removable endless ink ribbon that is insertible and inserted in the casing and fills the casing essentially in its entirety, the ribbon runs through a gap between the pulley and the pressure roller on one hand and the brake on the other.

A printing platen particularly for matrix printers is comprised of an aluminum or synthetic body carrying a thin layer of a ceramic material, preferably aluminum oxide, titanium oxide, chromium dioxide or a blend thereof. Such a platen is sufficiently frictional and hard for withstanding the impact of high speed print hammers or needles.

Transporting device for marginal punched webs

A feeder for a printer serves for guiding and/or advancing the record carrier. Tractors (1a and 1b) placed in a pair are provided. The tractors (1a and 1b) have hinged parts which can be adjusted in different hinged positions by pivoting bearings (11). To provide hinged part on printers, particularly dot matrix printers, with simple pivoting bearings that can be produced economically and to eliminate a special fastener for the pivoted positions, a spring steel wire piece (18) cut to length serves as a pivot pin (17) and for fixing of the closed and open end positions of the hinged part (10). The spring steel wire piece (18) is put under tension by bending.

Feeder for a printer

Single sheet feeding from a stack is provided by placing the stack onto flat bars defining a stack bottom and being part of a pivotable frame. That frame includes holddown fingers engaging the top sheet at its front edges, and, two separating rollers are provided laterally offset and at a higher level; the rollers are reversibly driven to pull the top sheet out from under the fingers, and upon reversing the rollers slide that sheet towards a platen drum being selectively drivingly coupled to the separating rollers.

A structure is disclosed primarily but not exclusively as a supplement to an existing printer or typewriter or the like, which structure includes a clamping shaft, either for clamping endless sheet stock against the traction device for the stock, or against an added on anvil bar or both.

A linear or annular optical grating cooperates with a detector unit having two detectors on the front face of a carrier member of rotational symmetry and being either directly rotatable through a rear-face screwdriver slot, or via a cam-operated lever, the cam being rotatable by screwdriver action. The two detectors are aligned along a diameter line of the carrier member and will produce two phase-shifted pulse trains upon relative movement between the detection unit and the grating. The preferred field of application is matrix printers, the grating defining print position.
