An apparatus for making elongated headed workpieces having a conveyor device for successively transporting elongated workpieces such as wire pieces transversely to their longitudinal axes from one treatment station into at least one treatment station and including a guided conveyor belt assembly to which the workpieces may be clamped by their circumferential surfaces. Two sections, running together and side by side, of two conveyor belts are guided in such a manner between the stations that they remain in immovable contact on both sides with the transported workpieces. At least one of the two conveyor belts is a toothed belt in which the gaps between the teeth take up the workpieces singly.

The two coils are guided outside the interruption in the coiling synchronously and in like phase through the location where the clamps are applied, by a synchronization device (60) in the clamping device (96) which engages slip-free in the two strap sections by means of a member (62). The two coils are guided outside the interruption in the coiling synchronously and in like phase through the location where the clamps are applied, by a synchronization device (60) in the clamping device (96) which engages slip-free in the two strap sections by means of a member (62). A counter (80) that counts the member movements between two successive clamping steps is coupled with member (162).

Apparatus for the manufacture of a roll of coiled, clamped barbed wire

A straight wire length is bent against a mandrel into an obtuse V-shape and then into a C-shape at a first station, and against another mandrel into an oval shape at a second station. When making the V-shape bend the leading edge of the wire length is thereby contained against perpendicular movement. The wire length is then bent into a C-shape and when it is moved from the first station to the second station the stop is pivoted against the force of the spring by a bar transforming the V-shape to the C-shape. When the emerging C-shaped link clears the support surface of the stop element, the spring returns the stop element to its initial position in the first bending station, against a stop. The surface of the stop element contacting the stop may serve as an electrical contact for process control. Also, in the first station the vertical space between the straight wire length and the leading edge of the mandrel is greater than the diameter of the wire, thus clearing the path of the feed of the straight wire length into the first station for high productivity at least during the transport of the C-shaped wire piece from the first station to the second station.

The chain links are bent in a single bending station, using a single mandrel. Pieces of wire of a given uniform length are bent into a V-shape between a holder and a suitably shaped recess in the mandrel. A wire feed sleeve and a wire receiving sleeve are disposed opposite one another defining a wire path between the holder and mandrel. Wire guides having guide surfaces guide the wire in its feed path from the feed sleeve to the receiving sleeve. The receiving sleeve has an abutment member provided with a support surface which, with the feed sleeve, prevents the leading and trailing ends of the wire piece from moving in a direction perpendicular to the direction of wire feed during the V shape bend. The two sleeves, each of which is formed together with a bending tool, are then retracted to free the wire ends, and the bending tools are moved perpendicular to the wire feed direction to bend the wire ends around the mandrel into a C-shape. The wire ends are then bent around the same mandrel to bend the wire ends into an O-shape to close the link.

A fabric manufacturing device having a drive to rotate a coiling mandrel (the so-called weaving blade), which, in order to avoid the difficulties of positioning the mandrel by means of motor, transmission, coupling and brake and in order to improve the productivity of the device, utiizes an electro-hydraulic torque amplifier as the mandrel drive, having an electrical step motor as a set-point value indicator, a switch valve as a servovalve and a hydromotor as an actual drive motor. A control device is provided which includes a positioning element for the step-wise positioning of the coiling mandrel in the rotational positions desired for certain points in time. In this manner, the invention automatically assures that the mandrel will precisely reach the desired rotational position and assures manufacturing of fabric with the highest possible rate of addition.

A method and apparatus for producing coil springs formed of wire and with elets formed at the ends thereof are disclosed. The apparatus includes a machine for winding spring bodies detachably affixed to apparatus for transferring them from the winding machine to first and second successive eyelet forming stations wherein, at the first forming station, an eyelet is formed at one end of the spring body and, at the second forming station, an eyelet is formed at the other end of the spring body. The spring bodies are divided into transport groups and supply groups arranged side-by-side on upwardly and downwardly inclined ramps, respectively, with their longitudinal axes parallel and at right angles to the transfer direction. Delivery devices are provided between the downwardly inclined, gravity feed supply ramps and the upwardly inclined transport ramps for the stepwise delivery of spring bodies to the eyelet forming stations.

A chain welding machine has a first cam-operated linkage for rapidly moving psetting dies into and away from the ends of a link to be welded and a second hydromechanical linkage for applying upsetting force to the ends of the link. The upsetting force is controlled by hydraulic pressure which is regulated as a function of time by a cam-controlled pressure-limiting valve.

A device for positioning the individual links of a length of chain having nks to be welded is disclosed. The device is used in connection with a chain welding machine wherein a length of chain is advanced step-by-step upwardly over a vertex defined by a saddle at which a welding station is located and then downwardly. The saddle is advantageously formed of a generally cylindrical, horizontally extending bolt affixed to the machine and which has a flattened top portion to which each chain link to be welded is advanced then erected for welding. Alternate links arrive at the flattened top of the bolt with the planes of successive links arranged at inclinations of 45.degree. to either side of a vertical plane containing the axis of the length of chain under the influence of the shape of the saddle and gravity.

Apparatus for positioning the links of a length of chain

This disclosure relates to a chain welding machine for the electric resisce pressure butt welding of a length of chain having interlinked chain links pre-bent into a C-shape. The machine comprises a pair of oppositely movable upsetting tools for engaging the opposite rounded ends of a chain link to be welded. A drive train is provided for each upsetting tool and one of the drive trains includes as an element thereof a single acting hydraulic cylinder. A hydraulic system for activating the cylinder includes a hydraulic pump connected via a feed line with the cylinder through a control valve, pressure regulating valve and check valve. The check valve is arranged to block flow of hydraulic fluid from the cylinder during a portion of the upsetting stroke of the machine and is unblocked by the control valve after termination of a welding cycle.

A chain welding machine for the electrical resistance butt-welding of subntially C-shaped chain links is disclosed wherein two pair of electrodes are arranged symmetrically in relation to a median plane of the machine frame. Each pair of electrodes is supported on a pair of double-armed levers arranged for opposite rotation about a horizontal axis. Each electrode pair is adapted to grip, in plier-like fashion, one of the two ends of the chain link to be welded. Each lever pair is rotatably mounted to a trunnion which is, in turn, resiliently mounted in a bushing in the machine frame for absorbing any radial and/or axial loads imposed on the electrodes by misaligned or oversized chain links to be welded.
