An inking control system for a printing machine has an operating panel with operating and display elements for adjusting the zonally acting ink distribution devices in the printing machine. A spacing distribution along a given direction and a number of the operating and display elements corresponds to a spacing distribution and a number of the ink zones in the printing machine. A full size color monitor is integrated in the operating panel. The color monitor is enabled to display a full-size printed image on a scale of 1:1 and to spatially correlate the display of the printed image with the operating and display elements to directly visually associate the inking zones in the displayed printed image with the operating and display elements. One or more image recording devices in the printing machine record printed images while the printing material is conveyed through the printing machine. The acquired image data are forwarded to a computer that is connected to the ink distribution devices and to the one or more image recording devices. In the method, the display image for the screen is generated from a sequence of successive scans by the image recording device.

Printing material is transported through the multicolor printing machine with a cyclically operating feeding arrangement. At least one surface of the printing material is successively imprinted with a printed image. The printed image is recorded in a image pickup and an image signal of each printed image is generated. The image signal generated from a plurality of printed images is transmitted to a control device. The control device processes the electric image signals to obtain information relating to rhythmic vibrations in the machine causing register deviations. The cause of the vibrations is determined and counter-measures are initiated for minimizing or eliminating the rhythmic vibrations.

Method for multi-color printing

A method for image position correction in printing on a printing material, wherein the printing material is traveling along a travel path through a printing machine by devices of a transporting arrangement, and wherein a positioning device is provided for aligning the distances and parallelities of the printed image in relation to the edges of the printing material, the method which includes generating by devices of at least one image pickup device disposed in the travel path of the printing material image signals from at least one surface of the printing material, wherein the image signals contain information pertaining to the distances and parallelity of the printed image in relation to the edges of the printed material, transmitting the image signals to a steering- or control device, and adjusting with the steering- or control device by means of signals applied to aforesaid positioning device the printed image so as to attain alignment of the image in relation to the distances from and parallelity with the edges of the printing material.
