Water draining device for a paper machine or the like, in particular for a felted press of such a paper machine, including a receiving tank extending at least essentially over the machine width. The receiving tank includes a first chamber that receives arriving water and is under ambient pressure, and a second chamber that is connected to the first chamber and is under vacuum, into which the water collecting in the first chamber is aspirated and from which the water is eventually drained. A water receiving device of improved efficiency is also provided by forming a water receiving device by at least one suction channel projecting into the wedge-shaped area between the upper press roll and the dewatering belt, and extending transverse to the pulp web, which suction channel is connected to a source of reduced pressure.

Water draining device

Pressing arrangement having two press rolls forming at least one press nip for dewatering a web, and two dewatering belts arranged to be guided through the at least one press nip with the web. The dewatering belts positioned on opposite sides of the web to absorb water. A common guidance path, formed by the dewatering belts guiding the web, is located after the at least one press nip. A separating roll and a lower one of the dewatering belts is arranged to wrap the separating roll along with the web at an end of the common guidance path. An upper one of the dewatering belts is arranged to be guided away from the web in a separation path in a region of the separating roll. Lower dewatering belt and web wrap the separating roll subsequent to the separation path at a wrapping angle of at least about 30&deg;.

Pressing arrangement

A method of producing paper webs coated on both sides includes the following steps: a) indirectly applying a liquid onto the paper web by passing the web through at least one nip formed by a roll and a counterelement, whereafter the web is dried; b) next, directly applying coating mixture at surplus only on one side of the web, whereafter the surplus coating mixture is removed again by use of a doctor element, the web being dried again thereafter; and c) lastly, directly applying coating mixture at surplus only on the other web side, whereafter the surplus coating mixture is removed by use of a doctor, whereafter the web is dried again. In the indirect application of liquid in the nip, or in the nips, either coating mixture to produce so-called MWC papers or a sizing suspension to produce so-called LWC papers is selectively applied.

Method and apparatus to produce paper webs coated on both sides

Machine for producing a web includes a former for sheet formation of the web, a press section for dewatering the web, a drying section for drying the web, and at least one edge strip forming device positioned in an area of at least one of the press section and the drying section, which is arranged to separate at least one edge strip from the web.

Paper machine

Press section of a machine and process for producing a fiber web. The press section includes at least two press nips arranged in succession in a web travel direction. Each of the at least two press nips is formed by two press rolls. At least one continuously revolving press belt is guided around each press roll. At least one of before and after at least one of the at least two press nips, a guide region is formed in which two of the press belts are arranged to run jointly along a straight path, and the fiber web is adapted to run between the two press belts along the straight path. Guide elements are arranged at an end of each guide region. At an end of each guide region, the press belts are guided over the guide elements to run separately from one another, and a press belt angle between the press belts at the guide elements is greater than approximately 15&deg;. The process includes successively pressing the fiber web in the at least two press nips, and jointly guiding the fiber web between two of the press belts in the at least one guide region. The at least one guide region includes a substantially straight path. The process also includes separating the two press belts at the guide element at the end of the at least one guide region at a separation angle of at least 15&deg;.

Press section and process

Dryer section and process for drying a fibrous web. Dryer section includes a plurality of dryer groups with at least one heated dryer cylinder and at least one belt to press the fibrous web against a surface of the at least one heated dryer cylinder. Transfer elements, i.e., a delivery transfer element and an accepting transfer element, are arranged to form at least one transfer point. Accepting transfer element has a greater speed than the delivering transfer element, and the transfer elements are arranged not to press against each other at the transfer point and to have a distance from one another of less than about 70 mm. Process includes guiding fibrous web to a first dryer group, pressing, with the at least one belt, fibrous web against surfaces of the at least one heated dryer cylinders of each dryer group, and transferring, without pressing, fibrous web between transfer elements.

Dryer section

Device and method for draining a web in a paper production machine. The device may include a press section having at least one press nip for draining and smoothing the web. The at least one press nip may be arranged to smooth one surface of the web more than its opposite surface and the device may also include a roughening device that roughens the one surface of the web. The method may include guiding the web through a press section of the paper production machine to drain and smooth the web in which the press section include at least one nip, smoothing one surface of the web more than its opposite surface in the at least one nip, and roughening the one surface.

Suction forming roll n double screen method and machine for the manufacture of a fibrous material web

A wet section of a machine for producing a fibrous material web that includes at least one press. The press includes a nip through which the fibrous material web is guided. The fibrous material web is preformed in a web forming zone. At least one press is an elongated nip press that is elongated in direction of the web travel. This nip is positioned in a region where the dry matter content of the preformed fibrous material web that comes into the nip is less than or equal to about 15% and, preferably is less than or equal to about 12%. A method for treating a fibrous material web in a wet section of a machine for producing the fibrous material web. The wet section includes at least one press including an elongated nip, at least one press and the elongated nip are elongated in a web travel direction. Further, the elongated nip is positioned in a region of the machine where the dry matter content of the fibrous material web, as it enters the elongated nip, is less than or equal to about 15%. The method includes preforming the fibrous material web in a forming section of the machine, guiding the fibrous material web to the at least one elongated nip, and pressing the fibrous material web in the at least one elongated nip elongated nip.

Wet press and method for treating a fibrous material web

Drying section of a machine for producing a material web, such as a paper or cardboard web, comprises at least one drying group having at least one drying cylinder and at least one web guidance device around which the material web is guided in a meandering manner. The shrinkage gradient that occurs in the material web transversely with respect to the direction in which the web travels is set or controlled by providing at least one, and preferably several, areas in which an at least mostly free, unhindered shrinkage of the material web is possible.

Drying section and method for drying a material web in such a drying

Process for cleaning a transport belt of a machine for manufacturing and/or processing a material web with at least one cleaning device. The process includes detecting the contamination of the transport belt with at least one sensor, generating a state matrix which contains the location coordinates of the detected contamination, and one of controlling and regulating the at least one cleaning device for cleaning over at least a width of the transport belt with a varying desired intensity of cleaning in accordance with the generated state matrix.

Process for cleaning a transport belt

Press section of a machine for manufacturing a fibrous pulp web. The press section may include a press roll, at least one flexible circulating press belt, at least one press shoe, and at least one extended press nip formed to extend in a web run direction by the press shoe pressing the flexible circulating press belt against the press roll. The press section further includes one of a felt or screen belt that may be guided through the at least one extended nip, and the press roll may be substantially centrally located within the press section and may have a diameter greater than a diameter of the at least one flexible circulating press belt. The center press roll has two press shoes positioned opposite it; the two press shoes are offset with respect to one another such that the direction of force exerted by each extends through the center press roll axis and defines an acute angle, with support elements within the center press roll positioned opposite the press shoes.

Press section

Press section of a machine for manufacturing a fibrous pulp web. The press section includes at least one press nip for draining the fibrous pulp web and at least one continuous press felt positioned on each side of the fibrous pulp web. The at least one continuous press felts may be guided through the press nip. The press section also includes a transfer roll that transfers the fibrous pulp web from a belt of a prepositioned unit to one of the at least one continuous press felts and a suctioned guide roll arranged within a loop of the one continuous press felt and between the transfer roll and the press nip. The suctioned guide roll is adjustably positionable so that the at least one continuous press felt positioned opposite the one continuous press felt is at least tangential to the suctioned guide roll, and adjustable positioning of the suctioned guide roll adjusts/an intake angle of the web into the press nip.

The invention concerns the wire section of a papermaking machine and a method of removing water from a fiber web in that section. A fiber suspension is discharged from a headbox on at least one and usually between two wires in the forming section. The fiber suspension is dewatered until it eventually reaches the point of immobility at which the fiber orientation is fixed. The rate of removal of water transverse to the direction of travel of the web is controlled at regions across the web. In particular, the rate of water removal is decreased at the edge regions of the wire and the web, as compared with the center region, to improve the transverse formation profile of the web. Various techniques for controlling the rate of water removal are disclosed including using different mesh of the wire at the edge regions and at the center region, a suction forming roll applying different levels of suction at different zones across the wire and the web, and adjustable ledges engaging one of the two wires and being adapted or adjusted to apply different pressure levels to the wire across the web.
