According to a conventional method for incinerating organic waste material, a fluidization device causes an oxygenous fluidizing gas to flow through the waste material, which is located in an incineration chamber, from underneath while forming a fluidized particle layer and the waste material is incinerated. The resulting flue gas is withdrawn via an open space situated above the particle layer and is subjected to a secondary incineration in a secondary reaction zone or secondary incineration chamber. Expanding upon the prior art, the aim of the invention is enable a high throughput for the incineration material while resulting in a low level of nitrogen oxide production, and to increase the productivity for the incineration of organic waste material. To these ends, the invention provides that the fluidized particle layer () is concentrated with oxygen in such a manner that a mean oxygen content ranging from 0-3 vol. % is set in the open space ().

Method and device for incinerating organic waste material

The starting point is a process to improve the performance of the incineration of combustible waste material in an incineration chamber, whereby the waste material is conveyed to a burner flame where it is burned with combustion air at a temperature in the range from 1100&deg; C. to 1700&deg; C. &lsqb;2012&deg; F. to 3092&deg; F.&rsqb;. On this basis, in order to create a process that allows a capacity increase of installations employed for the exothermal incineration of waste materials, it is proposed according to the invention that at least part of the combustion air is replaced by an oxygen-rich gas having an oxygen content that is higher than that of air and that the oxygen-rich gas is mixed with a cooling medium.

Process to improve the performance of the exothermic incineration of waste material

In a process for producing elemental sulfur by combustion of hydrogen sulfide or a hydrogen-sulfide-containing gas, in particular a Claus process, the hydrogen sulfide or the hydrogen-sulfide-containing gas undergoes partial combustion by using a first device in the form of a burner to which usually air is added as an oxidizing agent and which is connected to the combustion chamber. The invention relates to a method and a device for melting down solid combustion residues such as slags, ashes and fine dusts from waste combustion installations (11) with solid, liquid and/or gaseous fossil fuels in a melting device. In order to reduce the necessary energy by combusting fossil fuels, the supply of the combustion residues (12) from the waste combustion installation (11) takes place directly into the filling opening (13) of the melting device. The melting device is designed as a shaft furnace (10) with a furnace space (14, 15) with a refractory lining, the combustion residues (12) being melted down by means of a fuel/oxygen mixture or by means of a fuel/oxygen-air mixture which is introduced into the shaft furnace below the combustion residue fill (21).

The invention relates to a process for the solvent-free and dry production of particles from plastics. In order to achieve secondary treatment of the solid and gaseous combustion residues without high expenditure in terms of apparatus, according to the invention the waste is loaded as a charge (3) on a grate (5) provided in the shaft furnace (2), a fuel-oxygen mixture or a fuel-oxygen-air mixture is used as oxygen-containing gas and is introduced into the shaft furnace (2) and oxidized beneath the grate (5), above the grate (5) pure or technical-grade oxygen or air enriched with pure or technical-grade oxygen is injected into the waste charge (3) as oxidizing medium and the waste (3) if appropriate together with combustion residues is burned preferably at temperatures of 1400 to 1600.degree. C. (FIG. 1).

Process and apparatus for waste incineration

The invention relates to a process for removing tin, arsenic and antimony from molten lead by means of oxygen or oxygen-containing gas mixtures, which is or are blown into the molten lead by means of at least one gas nozzle (2). Oxygen and argon can be partially replaced by inexpensive CO.sub.2. The invention provides a process which makes it possible to completely replace nitrogen and argon by CO.sub.2.
