A mixing valve has a housing with a first inlet, a second inlet, a first outlet and a second outlet, and has a valve element arranged adjustably in the housing, and which valve element has a first fluid passage which, in a first position of the valve element, connects the first inlet and first outlet, in a second position of the valve element, connects the first inlet and second outlet, and in a third position of the valve element, connects the first inlet to the first outlet and second outlet, and which valve element has a second fluid passage which, in the first position of the valve element, connects the second inlet and second outlet, in the second position of the valve element, connects the second inlet and first outlet, and, in the third position of the valve element, connects the second inlet to the first outlet and second outlet.

A method for monitoring an oil flow, generated by an oil pump, in an oil cooling circuit of a thermal management system, includes: arranging a first pressure sensor at a first point in the cooling circuit; arranging a second pressure sensor at a second point in the oil cooling circuit; determining pressure difference values based on recorded pressures; and comparing the pressure difference values with a predeterminable comparison value for the pressure difference so as to check for a fault.

An arrangement for pressure monitoring within a battery housing of a battery system. The arrangement includes a first power supply path and a pressure measuring. The pressure measuring unit is electrically connected to the first power supply path. The arrangement also includes a pressure-sensitive mechanical switching unit arranged within the battery housing and electrically connected, in series with the pressure measuring unit, to the first power supply path. A thermal management system having a battery and an electric motor, the temperature of both of which is to be controlled, wherein the electric motor is oil-cooled. The thermal management system has a monitoring system for monitoring an oil flow generated by an oil pump, in an oil cooling circuit including the electric motor. The monitoring system in this case has a first pressure sensor at a first point of the oil cooling circuit and a second pressure sensor at a second point of the oil cooling circuit and/or a speed sensor assigned to the oil pump. Also proposed is a vehicle having a thermal management system of this type.

A thermal management system for use in a vehicle includes a first cooling circuit for cooling a battery; and a second cooling circuit for cooling an electric motor configured to drive the vehicle. Various embodiments include a method for operating an internal combustion engine comprising: determining a torque output of each cylinder resulting from a fuel injection; determining a difference in the respective torque output; comparing the difference with a predetermined threshold; determining a respective injection mass; determining a difference in the respective injection masses; comparing the difference with a threshold; if the differences exceed the threshold, determining whether the respective torque outputs correspond to the associated injection mass; and if the respective torque outputs lie outside a predetermined tolerance range for a respective corresponding injection mass, changing an injection time in at least one of the at least two cylinders.

Various embodiments include method comprising: determining a torque of each cylinder resulting from an injection; determining a difference in the respective torque output; determining a progression of a pressure in one of the cylinders within a cycle; determining a progression of the crankshaft speed within the cycle; determining a time interval between a maximum the pressure and a subsequent maximum of the speed within the cycle; comparing the difference in the torque outputs with a threshold; if the difference exceeds the threshold, determining a progression of the crankshaft speed for each of the cylinders within a respective cycle and determining the respective maxima; determining a respective time of the maxima within the associated cylinder cycle; determining a difference between the respective maxima; and if the difference is greater than a predetermined threshold, changing an injection time in one of the cylinders based on the determined time interval.

Various embodiments include a method for controlling an internal combustion engine comprising: determining a speed of the internal combustion engine; determining a cylinder wall temperature of a combustion cylinder of the internal combustion engine; selecting an injection mode based at least in part on the speed and the cylinder wall temperature; and actuating a fuel injector associated with the combustion cylinder based on the selected injection mode.
