Described herein are implementations related to communication in a wireless communication system. In one implementation, serving signals from serving base stations and interfering signals from neighbor base stations are split into multiple substreams. A power allocation algorithm is used to calculate the power amplitude factor of the substreams communicated from the serving based stations coupled to corresponding wireless devices. A control signaling related to this implementation is described.

Method, apparatus and system for channel estimation in two-way relaying networks

An apparatus for providing a combined digital signal comprises a bit adder and a combiner. The combined digital signal contains information of a first digital input signal and a second digital input signal, wherein a block length of the first digital input signal is shorter than a block length of the second digital input signal. The bit adder is configured to add at least one filling bit to a block of the first digital input signal to obtain an adapted first digital input signal, so that the block length of the adapted first digital input signal is equal to a block length of the second digital input signal. The combiner is configured to combine the adapted first digital input signal and the second digital input signal to obtain and provide the combined digital signal.

Apparatus for providing a combined digital signal

A receiver includes a receiving unit for scanning a dedicated signaling channel for the presence of an announcement signal. The announcement signal indicates a transmitter willing to access a transmission medium. The receiving unit is further operative to receive a data signal from a further transmitter on a dedicated traffic channel. Furthermore, the receiver includes an interference estimator for estimating, whether an interference caused by a new transmitter is allowable or not. A processor is provided for applying an interference counter-measure, when the interference is not allowable. A transmitter can, without any limitation, transmit the announcement signal. The transmitter will start transmitting, when it receives a ready-to-receive signal from the addressed receiver and when it does not receive an objection tone from another receiver in the network.

Receiver and transmitter for a network having a non-centralized medium access control

The present invention achieves differential transmit diversity and related diversity reception schemes transmit symbol constellations which are extended to multiple levels. Heretofore, a group of transmission bits is divided into a first sub-group of transmission bits and a second sub-group of transmission bits. Then, the first sub-group of transmission bits is mapped () onto constellation points of a differential transmit diversity coding scheme from an orthogonal design for coding of the first sub-group of transmission bits. Then, after differential encoding of the constellation points () a length of the transmission symbol vector is scaled () for coding the second sub-group of transmission bits. Therefore, the present invention overcomes restrictions implied through unit length requirements for previously known differential transmit diversity schemes from orthogonal designs.

Differential multiple-length transmit and reception diversity

To provide transmission and reception diversity schemes for a powerful, flexible and less complex bandwidth-efficient space-time modulation scheme there is proposed a method of and apparatus for differential multiple-norm space-time transmit diversity from a unitary space-time modulation scheme using at least two transmit antennas. In a first step a group of transmission bits is divided into a first sub-group of transmission bits and a second sub-group of transmission bits. In a second step the first sub-group of transmission bits is mapped onto a constellation matrix of a differential unitary space-time modulation scheme. In a third step a scaling factor is determined from the second sub-group of transmission bits. In a fourth step a transmission matrix is sep up through differential encoding of the constellation matrix and a previously determined transmission matrix in combination with scaling by the scaling factor. The differential multiple-norm transmit diversity according to the present invention improves distance properties of the modulation scheme which are relevant for achievable error rates and extends higher order modulation also to the area of differential transmit diversity schemes from unitary designs.
