A bearing support in the form an aluminum die casting wherein an antifriction bearing ring is cast in the support. Axially adjacent one axial side of the bearing ring is disposed axially resilient ringlike part that is in the form of either a sheet metal ring or a spring washer. The part has a generally L-shaped or the like cross-section. The thickness of the cast bearing materials around the peripheries of the antifriction bearing ring and the resilient element next to it is about 1/3 to 1/5 of the thickness of the antifriction bearing ring.

Bearing support with additional axially resilient ring

A sealed anti-friction bearing including an outer ring and inner shaft and two axially spaced sets of races defined in them for rolling element balls, and a respective seal between the outer ring and the shaft axially outward of each of the sets of rolling for elements defining an enclosed space between the seals. A die cast housing cast outside the outer ring. In the axial region of each set of races and their respective adjacent seal, the cast housing including a plurality of axially extending, circumferentially spaced apart, radially projecting ribs generally arranged in a 'star shape'. The ribs at one set of races open radially outward of the housing and the ribs at the other set of races open radially outward into the remaining solid body of the housing.

Die cast anti-friction bearing housing

A sealed anti-friction bearing comprising a bearing surrounded by a die cast housing. The bearing includes a shaft having two axially spaced inner races defined in it, an outer ring around and radially spaced from the inner ring with respective races defined in it, and rolling elements between the races. A respective seal axially outward of each of the rows of rolling elements defines an enclosed sealed space between the seals. A housing is die cast around the outer ring. For providing heat protection during casting of the housing around the outer ring, a respective sheet metal jacket is placed around the outer ring in the axial regions covering the respective set of races and the adjacent seal, wherein the jacket is around the bearing during die casting of the housing thereon.
