The brake system for motor vehicles has a brake pedal unit having a sensor, which has an intelligence of its own in the form of an electronic processing unit, which directly calculates actuating signals for brake actuators. Furthermore, the brake system has a central electronic control unit, which ascertains actuating signals for the actuators on the basis of an analog or digital signal of the mentioned sensor or of an additional sensor. The actuators have an intelligence of their own in the form of an electronic processing unit, which verifies whether the actuating signal coming from the central electronic control unit is valid. If this is the case, then the actuators are controlled by this signal, otherwise on the basis of the actuating signal calculated by the sensor.

Brake system and method for controlling a vehicle brake

A method and system for managing IPsec Security Associations in a Security Association Database (SADB) in an IP network is described. At a key management application, a domain extension header is inserted into a PF_KEY message containing instructions to a key engine unit. The domain extension header identifies a domain within the Security Association Database. The PF_KEY message is sent to the key engine unit, which carries out the instructions only for Security Associations in the domain of the Security Association Database indicated by the domain extension header.

Managing IPsec security associations using discrete domains

A method of handling performance data comprising a set of events is described. An event record for each event is stored as a set of blocks, each block containing one or more attributes of the event. The storage space occupied by each event record in is then reduced in discrete steps, each step including a reduction process that reduces the size of one of the set of blocks. This enables the provision of intermediate records between events and counters so that new event records contain complete details of their event, older event records contain less information, and even older event records may contain only high-level (counter) information.

Management of performance data

Methods of processing record data are presented, together with a Central Management Node for processing record data, and Management Subsystem DataBases for providing a record data set and matching record data. Triggered by service related network fault event, a key table comprising at least one key type is determined, based on a focus target record and related to the network fault event is determined, which key table is used in the step matching the at least one key with record data sets in determined Management Subsystem DataBases. Matched results are merged, whereafter a service performance indicator may be determined, based on which a multi-layer water flow analysis of subsystem specific performance related indicators can be obtained. This analysis may be successfully used to reveal the location of the service related network fault.

Method and system for network fault management

A system and method of handling poll-based alarms. The method begins by detecting a high-priority problem in a network. Next, network elements in the network related to the high-priority problem are mapped. The mapping step includes grouping network elements into focus groups wherein each focus group includes network elements having the same alarm. The mapped network elements are then polled for alarms. The polled alarms of the network elements are then correlated and processed.

Poll-based alarm handling system and method

A trailer electronic braking system is provided for a road train having a tractor and a plurality of trailers. The braking system includes a braking ECU on each trailer and a communication interface being provided so that the braking ECU on a first trailer and the braking ECU on a second trailer are able to communicate with one another. In use, the respective braking ECU on the first and second trailer receive an input from a respective sensor on the first and second trailer adapted to detect lateral acceleration and/or wheel speed. In the event that one of the sensors detects lateral acceleration and/or a wheel speed indicative of a loss of stability, the sensor generates a signal for actuating stability control, which signal is passed via the communication interface to the braking ECU on the other trailer, so that the other trailer can actuate stability control.

The brakes of the front axle of the trailer of a utility vehicle are impinged upon with a brake pressure by way of a single, common ABS valve. Said ABS valve is electrically actuated by an EBS module associated with the rear wheel brakes depending on a differential slip between the front axle and the rear axle.

The invention relates to a method for redundantly estimating, i.e. by various sub-methods, the risk of lateral overturn of a vehicle. One sub-method involves estimating the risk of overturn according to the actual braking state of the vehicle&#x2014;braking or strong braking, or not braking or slight braking&#x2014;by monitoring the rotational speed behavior of the wheels on the inside of the turn. Another sub-method involves pre-calculating the rolling motion of the vehicle about the longitudinal axis thereof over a short time span of, for example, 0.5 s to 1.5 s on the basis of instantaneous movement parameters and assessing the risk of overturn on the basis of the anticipated rolling motion.
