An injector cooling block for holding at least one injector for introducing a medium into a metallurgical vessel. The injector cooling block is arranged in or on a wall of the metallurgical vessel. The injector block has at least one plate in which a cooling channel or a cooling bore through which cooling medium can flow is arranged. The cooling channel or cooling bore separate a hot zone from a cold zone. At least one measuring element for measuring temperature and/or mechanical elongation is arranged in the hot zone. The measuring element has at least one optical waveguide which is integrated into the hot zone or fastened to the hot zone.

Injector cooling block for holding at least one injector

The invention relates to a wall () of a casting die for casting a molten metal. Die walls comprising a front plate () with a pocket borehole () and a rear plate () with a transversal borehole () aligned with the pocket borehole, on the cold side of the die front plate, are known in prior art. The aim of the invention is prevent the entrance of cooling liquid from the transition region (), between the front plate () and the rear plate (), into the pocket borehole () or the transversal borehole (). To this end, a sealing element () having a longitudinal borehole is arranged in the transition region () in such a way that the longitudinal borehole of the sealing element is at least approximately aligned with the transversal borehole () in the rear plate of the die and the pocket borehole () in the front plate of the die.

Wall of a casting die for casting a molten metal

A broadside () for the broadside of a funnel mold for the casting of metal. Known broadsides of this kind have at least one groove-shaped cooling channel () in the backside (R) of the broadside. Adjacent the cooling channel () on the backside of the broadside, recesses (A, . . . , A) are provided as well as filler elements (-, . . . , -) for the at least partial sealing of the recesses. In order to constructively simplify the broadside in view of the adjustment of a generally constant flow rate of a cooling medium through the cooling channel, it is proposed to design the recesses (A, . . . , A) in such a way, that they cross the cooling channel () diagonally to its longitudinal direction. Moreover, the recesses (A, . . . , A) are in their expansion in longitudinal direction of the cooling channel confined to a section of the cooling channel, and in this direction they have a rectangular-shaped and/or wedge-shaped cross-section, so that the depth of the cooling channel () in the broadside () in the area of the crossing recesses (A, . . . , A) changes step-like and/or linearly and is filled with corresponding filler elements.

Wide side of a funnel mold

The invention relates to a continuous casting mould for liquid metals, especially for liquid steel, comprising steel charging plates () which are surrounded by water reservoirs (), cassette-type copper plates () arranged against the same, end plates (), if needed, for the thickness and/or the width of the cast billet, and coolant channels (). The aim of the invention is to take measures to counteract the high temperatures in the meniscus region () using appropriate embodiments of the copper plates () and/or the steel charging plates (). To this end, the thickness () of the copper plates () between the coolant () and the hot side () of the copper plates varies along the width (2&#xd7;L) and/or in terms of the height ().

Continuous casting mold for liquid metals, especially for liquid steel

The invention relates to a mold wall for plate molds, tubular molds or similar, especially a broadside wall of a continuous casting mold for steel. The inventive plates consisting of copper or a copper alloy, which are either provided with coolant channels or are in thermally conductive contact with a water tank. Said plates have a surface which comes into direct contact with the steel melt and a protective layer applied to said surface. The wear resistance and mechanical workability are improved as a result of the protective layer consisting of a galvanically manufactured binary or ternary metal alloy dispersion, e.g. based on nickel with intercalated dispersants.

Mold wall, especially a broad side wall of a continuous casting mold for steel

A mold wall of a continuous casting mold includes an inner mold plate and a water box connected to the inner mold plate through screw connections, wherein the inner mold plate has on its side facing the water box webs with grooves extending between the webs, and wherein filler pieces are arranged in the grooves. The filler pieces each have at least one expanding element for producing a frictionally engaging connection of the filler pieces to the inner mold plate. The screw connections are arranged between the water box and the filler pieces.

Mold wall of a continuous casting mold

In a method for manufacturing a sidewall member of a continuous casting mold from a copper blank, wherein the sidewall member has an upper and a lower edge and a curved widened area beginning at the upper edge and tapering in a direction to the lower edge and to the sides of the sidewall member, the copper blank is hot-forged via several intermediate shapes to a rectangular plate with an initial wedge shape. The rectangular plate is then further formed by final hot-forging in a longitudinal direction of the rectangular plate with a straight saddle, having a width that is only a portion of a width of the rectangular plate measured relative to the longitudinal direction of the rectangular plate, and the curved widened area is pre-forged. Subsequently, the rectangular plate is quenched and work-hardened. The rectangular plate is then cold-hammered via a wedge-shaped bottom saddle for work-hardening a middle portion of the rectangular plate and for producing a final wedge shape of the rectangular plate. Finally, the entire curved widened area is work-hardened with a narrow saddle.

Method for manufacturing forged wide sidewalls of a continuous casting mold

A mold wall of a continuous casting mold is composed of an inner mold plate and a water box connected to the inner mold plate through screw connections, wherein the inner mold plate has on its side facing the water box webs with grooves extending between the webs, and wherein the grooves have a groove width and filler pieces are arranged in the grooves. The grooves of the mold plate have undercuts with an undercut thickness, the filler pieces have connecting elements with a connecting element thickness, the filler pieces engage releasably in the undercuts, and the screw connections are arranged between the filler pieces and the water box.

A broad side element for slab mold and including a cast plate having opposite inner and outer surfaces and a plurality of grooves provided on the inner surface for forming cooling channels and having each an undercut, and a plurality of inserts receivable in the undercuts of respective cooling channel-forming grooves for formlockingly covering the respective grooves, with the broad side element having upper and lower regions, and with at least the upper region having a middle portion and two side portions located on opposite sides of the middle portion.
