A metering device for metering water or an aqueous solution, such as an injector for metering a reducing agent liquid into an exhaust gas stream of a combustion system or an injector for metering water or aqueous solution into a combustion chamber or into an intake manifold of an internal combustion engine. The metering device has an inlet and an outlet for the water or aqueous solution and a shut-off device which is arranged between the inlet and the outlet. At least one electrically operated heating element is arranged in the region of the shut-off device so as to heat and avoid freezing of the liquid.

Device and method for metering water or an aqueous solution in a combustion system

The present disclosure relates to a nozzle body for a fuel injection valve, the nozzle body including a cavity and an injection channel for dispensing fuel from the cavity. The injection channel includes a first section and a second section downstream of the first section, the first and second sections having a common interface. The first section extends from a fuel inlet opening to a second opening disposed at the common interface. The cross-sectional area of the first section monotonically decreases from the fuel inlet opening to the common interface. The cross-sectional area of the second section monotonically increases from the common interface to the fuel outlet opening.

One of the two measurement variables is the voltage present at the coil and the other is the intensity of current flowing through the coil.

Determining the movement behavior over time of a fuel injector on the basis of an evaluation of the chronological progression of various electrical measurement variables

The present disclosure generally relates to internal combustion engines. The teachings thereof may be embodied in methods for the measuring of a feedback signal generated by the movement dynamics of a fuel injector in operation. A method may include: (a) generating an electrical test pulse; (b) feeding the test pulse into an actuation line connecting the output stage to the injector to an electric drive of the injector; (c) measuring an electrical response pulse generated by the actuation line in response to the test pulse; (d) identifying a characteristic feature of the measured response pulse; (e) transferring the feature to a control and evaluation unit; (f) evaluating the feature; and (g) acquiring the characteristic information item about the measuring channel based on the evaluation of the transferred characteristic feature.

Device and method for controlling a fuel injection valve

A method for detecting the commencement of opening of the nozzle needle of an injector of an injection system. In the detection method, the coil of the solenoid injector has a voltage applied to it which is so low that the armature is moved toward the nozzle needle at such a low speed that the abutment causes a stoppage of the armature movement, without the nozzle needle being opened. In this case, the idle travel is overcome, but no injection process is initiated. The abutment of the armature against the nozzle needle is detected, in the current profile, as the commencement of opening of the nozzle needle.

Method and a device for operating a internal combustion engine

A process for cleaning exhaust gas flow from an internal combustion engine using a catalyst, a lambda probe is disposed in the exhaust gas flow upstream from the catalyst and is connected to a controller that actuates the lambda probe, the controller receives a raw signal output from the lambda probe and forms a measurement signal that is supplied to control the internal combustion engine. The process includes regulating operation of the internal combustion engine such that a predetermined value of the lambda probe corresponds to a certain level of the measurement signal. Trimming the certain level of the measurement signal by a set value determined with an additional measuring pickup located downstream of the catalyst is performed, the trimming corrects the certain level of the measurement signal that corresponds to the predetermined value of the lambda probe. Switching the controller to a test mode in predetermined states of operation by the internal combustion engine and determining an actual value of a measurement signal falsification developed in the controller is performed. Compensating the measurement signal inversely to the actual value of the measurement signal falsification takes place. Varying the set value inversely to the actual value of the measurement signal falsification is performed.
