In the case of a medical or dental treatment instrument for the treatment of body tissue or a substitute material, in particular by cutting, with an elongated handpiece which in its front end region comprises a retaining device with a plug-in hole, into which the tool with its tool shank is capable of being inserted and is capable of being locked by means of a locking part which is movably supported transversely in relation to the tool shank between a locking position in which it is set into a locking recess in the tool shank and a release position releasing the tool shank and is pressurised into its locking position by the force of a spring, an actuating member which is manually accessible from outside is provided which is movably supported on the retaining device and with which the locking part is capable of being displaced into its release position, the actuating member being displaceably supported transversely in relation to the tool shank.

Medical or dental treatment instrument for the treatment of body tissue

The invention relates to a dental treatment instrument with which a dental handpiece (1), at its instrument end and/or at its hose end, is provided with unlocking planes (4a, 4b) which cooperate with correspondingly complementarily formed unlocking planes (5a, 5b) of a dental treatment instrument (2) or of a hose connection (3) of a supply hose. The treatment instrument (2) or the supply hose (3) can, because of the cooperating unlocking planes (4a, 4b; 5a, 5b), be released by simple turning of the treatment instrument (2) or of the supply hose (3) relative to the dental treatment instrument.

Dental treatment device

A medical treatment device, in particular for surgical purposes, having at least one treatment instrument in the form of a hand piece which can be connected to a control unit by means of a flexible supply line, there being associated with the treatment device, preferably with the control unit, a source of treatment agent, in particular for cooling fluid, to which it is possible to connect a treatment agent line, which extends at least in part through the supply line to the front end of the hand piece, in the form of a hose, the treatment agent line having a hose section which extends with radial play for movement in the supply line as far as the hand piece and is there connected to a plug-in spigot which is plugged in a releasable manner in an axial plug-in socket in the hand piece and has an axial and a radial channel section, of which the axial channel section issues from the hose connection and the radial channel section is connected to the continuing treatment agent line.

A dental spray handpiece, consisting of a gripping sleeve possessing a connection for media at one end thereof and a media discharge at its other end, and in which sleeve there are arranged media conduits leading from the media connection to the media discharge. A tubular member or cannula for further conducting the media egressing from the media discharge is arranged at the media-discharging end of the gripping sleeve, the cannula including forwarding passageways for the advancing of the media, and which communicate with the surroundings through discharge orifices at the free end of the cannula.

Dental spray handpiece

A dental spray handpiece, consisting of a switchless sleeve having a media inlet connection at its rearward end and a media discharge outlet at its forward end. Within the sleeve there is arranged at least one media conduit leading from the media connection to the media discharge outlet and discharging therefrom at this location, with a remote-controlled flow of media.

A dental spray handpiece, consisting of a gripping sleeve having a media inlet connection at one end thereof and a media discharge outlet at its other end, the gripping sleeve having media conduits arranged therein which extend from the media inlet connection to the media discharge outlet and discharge media outwardly therefrom. The gripping sleeve which in its dimensions and its configuration forms a uniform basic member, is equippable as a spray handpiece with an electrical current circuit and an electrical power consumer, as well as a spray handpiece without a power consumer.

A dental spray handpiece, consisting of a gripping sleeve having a media inlet connection at one end thereof and a media discharge at the other end. In the sleeve there are arranged two media conduits extending from the media inlet connection to the media discharge and discharging outwardly therefrom, of which one conduit is connected to a source of air and the other to a source of water, each of the two media conduits having associated therewith a respective electrical heating device with an associated heating current circuit for the heating of the medium.

A dental handpiece, consisting of a gripping sleeve part with a built-in air motor for the drive of a treating implement which is supported within the gripping sleeve part. The gripping sleeve part has a detachable connecting member associated therewith; and the air motor has a control device possessing a handgrip associated therewith for changing the direction of rotation of the air motor; and wherein the connecting member is further provided with two passageways having outlet orifices connectable with the air motor for, respectively, the infeed of driving air and the discharge of exhaust air. For collective gripping sleeve parts which are brought into exchangeable engagement with the connecting member, it is necessary to provide only a single control device for changing the direction of rotation, which results in a simple mounting of bearing support for the gripping sleeve parts.

Dental handpiece

There is disclosed a dental handpiece which comprises a holder sleeve adapted to mount at one end a dental implement, a motor unit arranged in the sleeve, a power supply module releasably coupled to an opposite end of the sleeve and arranged to provide power to operate the motor unit, and a drive train extending within the sleeve from the motor unit to the dental-implement end of the sleeve to enable the motor unit to operate the dental implement. Fluid media supply lines are arranged inside the sleeve, but pass round the outside of the motor unit, and extend towards the implement-end of the sleeve in order to supply fluid media to the treatment region adjacent to the implement. The housing of the motor unit has a longitudinal groove in which the fluid media supply lines are taken, to achieve necessary guiding of the supply lines. The power supply module and the handpiece sleeve are freely rotatable relative to each other, when they are coupled together, by virtue of a guide pin and socket arrangement. The socket is provided by a coupling interpiece, and advantageously the coupling interpiece and the motor unit are interchangeably mounted in the handpiece. Desirably, the handpiece sleeve is transversely divided into two sleeve portions, and can receive a selected one of different interchangeable gear units.

There is disclosed a dental handpiece set which comprises a handpiece housing, a power supply module detachably coupled to one end of the housing for supplying power to operate the handpiece, a motor unit which is selected from a set of different types of motors and which is removably mounted in the housing as an exchangeable motor unit, and a drive train extending within the housing to an opposite end of the housing at which a dental implement can be mounted to be driven by the drive train when the motor unit is mounted in the housing and is coupled with the power supply module. The end of the housing which is detachably coupled with the power supply module is adapted removably to receive the selected motor unit so that a housing of the unit is secured within the housing against rotation. At least two different types of motor unit e.g. an air driven motor and an electric motor, are provided to be mounted selectively in the housing according to operating requirements for the handpiece, each motor unit being arranged so as to be capable of being received by the housing via said one end thereof and being adapted for coupling with the power supply module. Accordingly, the dental handpiece set enables any desired combination of elements to be obtained to suit any available power supply module.

A dental compressed-air motor, consisting of a housing in which there is arranged a rotatably supported rotor adapted to be set into rotation by means of operational compressed air which is introduced into the housing through the intermediary of an operational compressed-air inlet conduit, and which includes a rotor shaft connectable with a work tool, wherein the operational compressed-air inlet conduit has associated therewith a regulating device located within the housing, with an externally operable handle for effecting the turning of a rotary slide valve supported within the motor housing for variation of the rotational speed and/or the direction of rotation of the rotor. Furthermore, at one end of the motor housing there are provided coupling means for connection with a dental handpiece supporting the work tool and, at the other end of the motor housing, coupling means in the form of an attachment element for connection with a supply hose conducting compressed air or other media streaming towards or from the motor housing or handpiece, whereby the rotary slide valve is located intermediate the motor and the attachment element and whereby the attachment element is provided with essentially axially incoming and essentially axially further extending media through-passageways which are connected to the media conduits leading to the location of application for the compressed-air motor or the handpiece.

A dental handpiece with a gripping sleeve-like base member which is detachably connected with a headpiece mounting a work tool, a connecting sleeve of the headpiece being insertable into the power-take off end of the base member, wherein a roll body is radially movably supported in each of one or more cutouts in the base member wall, inwardly extending therethrough with a portion of its volume, which is movable through the intermediary of a coupling element movably arranged on the base member, and which includes an inclined plane for the engagement with the roll body under the assumption of a clamping fit in contact against the connecting sleeve.

A dental treatment installation comprising at least one dental handpiece having an air operated drive motor and an outlet for discharging operating media used for dental purposes, a spray handpiece, a control arrangement for controlling the supply of operating media to the handpieces, and a storage device for the handpieces having storage switching-means which are arranged to place the handpieces on stand-by to receive operating media upon extraction of the handpieces from the storage device. The control arrangement includes supply sleeves having ducts for supplying operating media to both types of handpiece, couplings for releasably coupling the supply sleeves to the handpieces, and a foot-operated device for regulating the supply of operating media to the handpieces and including first switching-means for controlling the supply of air to drive the motor of the dental handpiece and second switching means for controlling the supply of spray to the dental handpiece.
