A completely automatic method for the nesting of contours to be cut from a piece of natural leather in which defects in structure and material as well as the outer contours of the leather are detected by means of a camera. The defective places, characterized by different shades of color, are transmitted to the electronic control unit. Pattern contours to be cut are stored in the electronic control unit, and regions wherein specific degrees of defect are tolerable are defined for each contour. A specific shade of color corresponds to each degree of defect, so that defects of the same degree are characterized by the same shade of color (in the case of black-and-white cameras by the same gray values; in the case of color cameras by the same color temperature). An automatic nesting simulation process is then effected via a software program. The pattern contours stored in the electronic control unit are electronically placed together with due consideration of the predetermined defect constraints and thus different cutting patterns are simulated. When an optimum cutting pattern has been found, i.e., the maximum possible degree of utilization has been obtained, the simulation image is stored and used later for controlling the automatic cutting system.

Method for nesting contours to be cut out of natural leather

A work table for an automatic cutting installation for cutting materials by means of non-mechanical cutting tools has a metallic cutting base which is formed of a plurality of metal strips. Edges of the metal strips form the support surface for the workpiece. Undulating metal strips may be arranged alternately against non-undulating metal strips. Alternatively, metal strips may be used that are bent into the form of a rectangular undulation and have undulation valleys and undulation ridges which are of different length. The undulation valleys and undulation ridges lie in each case opposite each other and offset, forming a corner-shaped space. The metal strips extend over the complete width of the work table and their top-to-bottom width is selected to provide sufficient stability for the material to be cut which rests thereon. Portions of the metal strips are bonded or soldered to each other.

A system for preventing the collision of two cutting tools in a computer-controlled cutting unit in which the two cutting tools may at times be moved toward each other. This system determines the actual position of each cutting tool during the cutting process. The distance between the two cutting tools is determined and is compared with a previously specified tolerated separation by means of a comparator in the computer. As soon as the tolerated separation has been reached, the system shuts off the cutting unit. In addition, an electrical safety circuit prevents the cutting unit from starting up again automatically after an automatic shutdown.

System for preventing the collision of two cutting tools

A cutting portal for an ultra-high-pressure fluid jet cutting system separates the longitudinal and transverse motion of the cutting head support. The portal includes two parallel plates with lightweight, honeycomb composite material between them. The cutting portal is moved transversely of its length longitudinally of the cutting table. A guide rail for the cutting head support is supported in the honeycomb material and extends along the length of the cutting portal, transversely to the motion of the cutting portal. Spaced apart bearing shafts are supported by bearing shells in the honeycomb material. A driven belt passes around the shafts and moves the cutting head support along the guide rail, which provides motion of the cutting jet in the transverse direction of the cutting table.

A material resting surface for a workpiece support, for use with non-mechanical cutting tools of the type which pass a cutting jet, or the like, through the workpiece and into the support. The workpiece support is coated with a kneadable composition, i.e. a substance or mixture of substances of a highly viscous or pasty consistency, and after each cutting process, a reproducible defect-free surface is restored by kneading the composition.

The invention relates to a bicycle, the frame (31) of which is connected to a single-arm drive extension (30) which, at its rear end, has firmly connected to it a rear wheel axle (11a) which is rotatably mounted and can be driven by a drive device (38,33,34,35), onto which rear wheel axle (11a) the rear wheel can be attached from one side. Moreover, the front wheel holder connected to the bicycle frame (31) is designed as a monospar fork (1), with the front wheel axle (11) being firmly connected to the monospar fork (1) for accommodating the front wheel on one side. The wheels (8a,8b) have wheel hubs (9a,9b) which are designed in half shell shapes and are open towards the axle bearing devices (12,13,14), with a break device (22), which is firmly connected to the axle bearing device, being arranged within at least one half shell shaped wheel hub, which brake device (22) can be pressed against the inner peripheral surface of a wheel hub (9a, 9b) for braking the bicycle. The bicycle according to the invention, apart from identical wheels, has practically identical axle bearings and brake devices for the front and rear wheels, which are protected from external influences by the wheel hubs. By releasing only one screw (20), it is possible to change a wheel without dismantling the brake devices.
