A process for the production of semifinished products and/or molded components from polypropylene by grafting thereto an alkoxysilane compound in the presence of an organic peroxide involves mising the polypropylene, the silane compound, and the peroxide and subsequently plasticizing and extruding at a temperature of about 170.degree.-240.degree. C. The process utilizes an essentially isotactic homopolymer of propylene with a density of about 0.90-0.91 g/cm.sup.3 and a melt index MFI (#.degree. C./5 kp) of smaller than 0.7 g/10 min, preferably smaller than 0.1 g/10 min, and with a molecular weight higher than 5.multidot.10.sup.5. An initially non-crosslinked semifinished product is obtained.

Process for the production of semifinished products and/or molded

A ternary molding composition is formed of an admixture of a modified ethylene-propylene copolymer, a propylene polymer and polyethylene and contains 35-50% by weight of a modified ethylene-propylene copolymer, which is prepared by the polymerization of an ethylene-propylene copolymer onto polyethylene, with the ethylene content of the ethylene-propylene copolymer being at least 65% by weight and the modified copolymer having a melt index MFI (230/5) of 0.8-2.0 g/10 min; 30-60% by weight of polypropylene with a melt index MFI (230/5) of 25-65 g/10 min and/or propylene-ethylene copolymer with a melt index MFI (230/5) of 15-50 g/10 min, and 3-30% by weight of polyethylene, wherein the polyethylene block of the modified ethylene-propylene copolymer can be attributable to the quantity of polyethylene contained in said composition.

Ternary thermoplastic molding composition containing ethylene-propylene

A ternary molding composition formed from an admixture of ethylene-propylene copolymer, polypropylene homopolymer, and polyethylene, which comprises 38-48% by weight of a partially crystalline ethylene-propylene copolymer with an ethylene content of at least 65% by weight, a melt index MFI (230/5) of 0.7-2.0 g/10 min, and a tensile strength of higher than 5.0 N/mm.sup.2 ; 27-63% by weight of a polypropylene homopolymer with a melt index MFI (230/5) of 25-65 g/10 min; and 3-30% by weight of polyethylene with a melt index MFI (230/5) of 15-20 g/10 min, the molding composition having a melt index MFI (230/5) of at least 8 g/10 min, a tensile strength of at least 15 N/mm.sup.2 and an elongation at yield of at least 450%.

Ternary thermoplastic molding composition containing polypropylene

A ternary molding composition is formed of an admixture of ethylene-propylene copolymer, propylene polymer, and polyethylene and contains 30-45% by weight of a partially crystalline ethylene-propylene copolymer with an ethylene content of at least 65% by weight; a melt index MFI (230/5) of 0.7-2.0 g/10 min, and a tensile strength higher than 5.0 N/mm.sup.2 ; 35-65% by weight of propylene polymer with a melt index MFI (230/5) of 15-50 g/10 min, and 3-30% by weight of polyethylene with a melt index MFI (230/5) of 15-50 g/10 min, said molding composition having a melt index MFI (230/5) of at least 8 g/10 min and a tensile strength of at least 15 N/mm.sup.2 and an elongation at yield of at least 450%.
