An evaporator contains a heating tube, a heat exchanger for cooling the heating tube, and a means for generating an aerosol. The heat exchanger contains at least two cooling pipes, where the at least two cooling pipes are arranged such that each of the at least two cooling pipes is in physical contact with the heating tube. The means for generating the aerosol is coupled to the at least two cooling pipes.

A heat exchanger for cooling a heating tube is described, comprising at least two cooling pipes, wherein the at least two cooling pipes are arranged such that each of the at least two cooling pipes are configured to be in thermal contact with the heating tube; and a means for generating an aerosol being configured to provide the aerosol in the at least two cooling pipes.

An evaporation apparatus for depositing material on a substrate by a drum is described. The evaporation apparatus includes a first set of evaporation crucibles aligned in a first line a first direction for depositing evaporated material on the substrate; a first gas supply pipe extending in the first direction being arranged between at least one of the evaporation crucibles of the first set of evaporation crucibles and the drum; and a second gas supply pipe extending in the first direction for providing a gas between the first set of evaporation crucibles and the drum with openings shaped and positioned to improve the uniformity of the deposition of the material.

The invention relates to a laminate comprising two plastic films and in between a metal or metaloxide layer and a crystalline triazine layer, the laminate having a lamination strength of about 2 N/inch or more as measured in a 90 degree tensile testing at 30 mm/min. The invention further relates to a composite layer, comprising a metal or metal oxide, and a triazine layer comprising a triazine compound suitable for said laminate. The invention further relates to a process for the preparation of a composite layer, comprising the step of applying a triazine layer on a substrate with a metal or metal oxide layer by vapor deposition of the triazine compound, wherein the process comprises (a) applying to the metal or metal oxide layer a compound other than a triazine compound, (b) vapor depositing the triazine compound on the metal or metal oxide layer while the compound is at least in part in a liquid state.

Laminate and composite layer comprising a substrate and a coating, and a process and apparatus for preparation thereof

A Fabry-Perot filter is applied as a thin coating on a film, for example, a packaging film, and permits interesting color effects. The coating has a layered construction in which both reflecting layers of the filter may be made of aluminum and the intermediate layer between the reflecting layers may be made of aluminum oxide.

A pure metal is vaporized in a receiver, and a quantity of oxygen slightly substoichiometric for the oxide is introduced. To determine the thickness of the layer deposited on the film and to control the vaporization rate, optical sensors are installed in an area where the layer, because of the presence of unoxidized metal, has sufficient absorption for optical measurement. After the determination of the transparency by the sensors, the layer is subjected to a secondary oxidation process.
