A dual-mode twin-chamber thrust bearing having hydraulic damping has a working chamber and an equalizing chamber, which are separated by a partition. The chambers are hydraulically connected by a damping channel or optionally by other vibration-damping devices. The partition is provided in its center with a passage that is closable by an actuator, and the outer wall of the equalizing chamber formed by an elastic bellows. The actuator and the elastic bellows form an integral component, which is displaced by an electric motor via an actuator mechanism.

A controllable motor bearing consisting of a journal bearing and a support which are connected parallel to one another by means of a first and a second spring element made of rubber. One of the spring elements can be locked in place by an auxiliary mechanism, if necessary. The first spring element is structured in the form of a ring, and has an inside diameter which is larger than the outside diameter of the second spring element. The first spring element overlaps the second spring element at least partially in the axial direction. The auxiliary mechanism consists of a support element which at least partially surrounds the second spring element at a radial distance. The second spring element has a recess which has an expanse and position in the axial direction which cooperates with the support element. A fluid medium can be fed into the recess. The second spring element can be expanded in the area of the recess, as a function of the pressure of the fluid medium, and can be placed against the support element so as not to move.

In a variable-resilience engine mount a top member rests on two rubber spring elements which, in turn, rest on a parallel base. An ancillary component deactivates one of the spring elements when necessary. A first, outer spring element extends axially at least part-way up the second, inner spring element. The second spring element has a cavity at its center. A fluid can be injected into the cavity to inflate and expand the second spring element. The cavity will continue to inflate, making the mount less resilient as more fluid is injected, until it is stopped by a reinforcement surrounding it.

A motor mount having hydraulic damping comprises a support member and a support bearing or wall which are connected by an elastic support spring of circular ring shape and together define an operating space. The operating space is separated from a compensating space by a partition wall connected to the support bearing or wall. The operating space and the compensating space are connected by a connecting aperture or conduit. The conduit penetrates the partition wall and is interrupted by at least one cavity of variable volume. The part sections of the conduit formed thereby have a cross-section reduced stepwise in the direction from the operating space to the compensating space. This gives the motor bearing a wide-band damping effect.

Motor mount having improved hydraulic damping

An air spring has a variable interior space at a gas pressure for spring action between relatively-vibrating bodies. A control device has a sensor electrically responsive to the gas pressure for electrically operating an intake valve for admitting gas to the interior space and an outlet valve for venting gas from the interior space to atmosphere. This damps or isolates vibrations in the air spring in dependence on the control device. The control device may also respond to auxiliary transducers for the gas pressure, spring height, and level, speed, steering, braking, or acceleration of a vehicle on which the air spring is used, for example.

An apparatus for resiliently mounting a vibrating body, has a mounting bracket and a pedestal interconnected through a resilient element to define a liquid-filled hollow space. A compensating baffle bounds at least 10% of the liquid-filled hollow space and is moved by a positioning element to compensate for pressure variations in the liquid caused by vibrations, of the body. The positioning element is actuated by a primary element which detects the vibrations of the body, through a freely programmable control unit.

Apparatus for resiliently mounting a vibrating body

A mount for damping vibratory motion has a resilient pad which is flexed by the motion to move relatively spaced bumper and counter shoulders for resiliently damping vibrations having amplitudes less than the spacing of the shoulders. Low frequency vibrations with larger amplitudes are damped hydraulically by a diaphragm arrangement operated by engagement of the shoulders and throttling an hydraulic fluid between working and expansion spaces enclosed thereby. The diaphragm arrangement is spaced from the resilient pad so that the pad- and hydraulic-damping operate independently. The shoulders are also outside the enclosed space for the hydraulic fluid to be similarly independent thereof.

Hydraulically-damped mount

A two chambered support for a bearing, shaft or mounting which dampens vibration by hydraulic movement against a diaphragm and a flexible bellows is described.

Hydraulic bearing support

A hydraulically damped rubber motor mount has a mounting flange, a motor connection above the flange, and a rubber annulus interconnecting the connection and flange and forming a hydraulic chamber. An elastically expansible and contractible hydraulic enclosure is connected with the chamber via a flow path that is at least fifty times longer than its cross-sectional area. Hydraulic fluid fills the chamber, enclosure and path. Low frequency vibration applied to the motor connection when supporting a motor, is damped by hydraulic flow back and forth between the chamber and enclosure via the flow path. Because of the length of this flow path relative to its cross-sectional area, the mount does not excessively stiffen when the motor applies high frequency vibration to the motor connection.
