A method for processing lenticular foil in sheet-fed printing presses is provided, the lenticular foil having lens strips adjacently disposed and extending transversely to the running direction of the sheets. The method ensures that the lens strips proceed parallel to the sheet's front edge For determining the actual position of a sheet aligned according to a front edge, the position of a contact line between two adjacent lens strips is determined, and compared with a nominal position. If the actual position deviates from the nominal position, an adjusting value is generated for realizing a leading or trailing movement of plate cylinders making possible the nominal position, of a gripper sheet-holding system of a sheet-accelerating device mounted in a drum.

A pair of synchronously rotating draw-in devices are placed in contact with an outer layer of a web of material wrapped on a supply roll. The outer layer is pulled between the two draw-in devices. This pulled-in outer layer can them be conveyed to a separate processing station where it can be given a fresh end.

Method and device for preparing the beginning of a paper web feed roll

A leading edge of a paper web supply roll is prepared for utilization in a flying web splice. The paper web supply roll is supported adjacent a work carriage that is movable transversely across the face of the supply roll. As the work carriage moves across the web, a leading edge of the web is cut, spaced adhesive labels and a double sided adhesive splice tape are applied, and the lateral edges of the web adjacent the web leading edge are provided with angled lateral edge cuts.

Paper web leading edge preparation device

A paper web splice tape which is usable to splice a free end of a new paper web to a depleting paper web is formed as a double sided adhesive tape. A continuous high strength adhesive layer is provided on an outer surface of the splice tape and is engageable with the depleting web. The inner side of the splice tape is separated into a high strength adhesive zone, an adhesive free zone and an easily releasable adhesive zone.
