A method and circuitry for reading out data from a TV pickup (image sensor) designed for the 525-line television standard, and operated in accordance with a line interlace process by once-repeated read-out of each line. In order to adapt the TV pickup (image sensor) to a 625-line television standard, every third line scan is repeated twice, i.e., every third line is read out three times. To simplify television cameras, particularly of the type previously disclosed in U.S. Pat. No. 4,163,247, Bock et al, the green (or white) content of an image and the red/blue content of an image are transduced by two-dimensional semiconductor sensors which include read-out and storage sections, the read-out being controlled by shift registers which, in turn, operate under control of a clock generator. The luminance of the signal is derived by reading out the luminance portion during the line scanning interval and the thus read out signal is immediately re-stored in the storage portion of the luminance transducer; the chrominance signal is read out from the chrominance sensor during the line blanking interval; during this interval, the re-stored luminance portion is likewise read out and combined with the chrominance portion to form a difference signal. The overall output then will be a time multiplexed luminance signal, at the line scanning rate, and a compressed chrominance signal, read out during the line blanking interval. Additional synchronization signals may be combined with this signal if the read-out rate during the line blanking interval is suitably selected to allocate time slots therefor.

Color television camera system having solid-state opto-electric

The invention concerns a color television camera for providing a color television signal suitable for recording. The camera comprises separate transducer means for deriving the luminance and chrominance information bearing signals, the transducer means being controlled so that the color information scanning takes place during the line frequency flyback of the luminance scanning. The luminance and chrominance signals are subsequently interleaved by time division multiplex and the resulting signal can be recorded by the use of simple magnetic recording devices.
