The present invention provides an improved method and device for generating a depth map () by extracting three-dimensional depth information from the movement vectors of an encoded video bit stream () to display two-dimensional video sequences onto three-dimensional displays. In particular, the invention performs depth extraction () by means of a post-processing of the movement vectors of the inter-coded macroblocks, which have been already encoded in the video bit stream, thereby significantly reducing the heavy processing requirements associated with conventional motion estimation techniques.

Video processing method and device for depth extraction

A series () of original instructions for a single processor is translated into implementing instructions for executions distributed over a plurality of processors () of different type. The series () of original instructions is split into successive sections (-) assigned to respective ones of the processors (). Operand transfer instructions are added to the sections (-) to support data dependencies between the sections (-). The assignment includes selecting a location of a boundary in the series of original instructions between successive ones of the sections (-) so as to substantially minimize an aggregate of the execution cost factors of the original instructions as implemented and including costs for the operand transfer instructions. Preferably, the locations of the boundaries are determined from a search among different boundaries positions.

Translation of a series of computer instructions

A device and method for processing binary program files includes transferring a binary program file in the form of binary data packets over a communication network between a transmission device of a server platform and a reception device of a target platform. The reception device reorders the packets suitable for forming reordered-packet groups. A processor successively analyzes the reordered-packet groups so as to identify portions of code and processes the analyzed packets as soon as a portion of code has been identified.
