The pressure chambers (2) for the ejection of the ink are recessed in a body (9) of an ink jet printer. The chambers (2) are covered by a metal diaphragm (1). The pressure chambers (2) and the associated narrow passages (4) are formed in the body (9) by depression. Subsequently, the metal diaphragm (1) is connected to the body (9) by energy beam welding. The energy beam (31) is moved along the edges of the pressure chambers (2) and of the narrow passages (4). An electron beam or a laser beam may be used as the energy beam (31).

A method of plasma MIG welding in which an arc is maintained between a workpiece and a welding wire in a thermally ionized gas (auxiliary plasma) which is generated by an electric gas-discharge between two non-consumable electrodes; neither the welding wire nor the workpiece acts as a single electrode for generating the thermally ionized gas.

Plasma-MIG welding in which a thermally ionizable inert gas is flowed past a starter non-consumable electrode through a nozzle non-consumable electrode toward a workpiece, firstly a plasma arc is established between such starter non-consumable electrode and such workpiece to initiate and sustain a plasma flow, a consumable electrode is fed through such plasma flow toward the workpiece, secondly a MIG-arc is separately established between such consumable electrode and the workpiece, and finally the nozzle non-consumable electrode is electrically connected to the starter non-consumable electrode so that the plasma arc is taken over by the nozzle non-consumable electrode and extends solely from the nozzle non-consumable electrode to the workpiece.

Method of and device for plasma-MIG welding

Plasma MIG welding in which a plasma flow is generated between a non-consumable electrode and a workpiece, and a consumable electrode is fed through such plasma flow toward the workpiece to establish a MIG arc between the same. The current intensity in the plasma flow is increased by applying additional current thereto from an annular auxiliary non-consumable electrode surrounding the plasma flow and positioned between the primary non-consumable electrode and the workpiece.

Method of and device for plasma MIG welding

A compact plasma-MIG welding torch in which the contact tube and the nozzle are directly connected together electrically, thereby enabling welding with a very short extension of the welding wire.
