A sheet handling apparatus comprising a rotary drum having an outer peripheral wall with perforations, and a number of separate chambers, a suction system for controlling a flow of air through the perforations, thereby to attract sheets to the peripheral wall of the drum, and a stationary shutter member for blocking the flow of air through the perforations when they pass through a predetermined angular range. The number of separate chambers extend in axial direction and are distributed over the periphery of the drum. A disk-shaped manifold at the first axial end of the drum is co-rotatably with the drum. The manifold forms a number of radial channels each connected to one of said chambers and having an opening at a radially inward end of each channel. The stationary shutter member is arranged for blocking an opening of a channel to block air flow from a radially inward end of a channel.

Sheet handling apparatus with rotary drum

An apparatus for steering a belt includes a steering roller supporting the belt, a rotatable element and a transmission. The steering roller is rotatable about a first axis and pivotable about a second axis, the second axis being substantial perpendicular to the first axis. The rotatable element is rotatable about a third axis, the third axis being parallel to the first axis. The transmission is arranged for converting a rotational motion of the rotatable element about the third axis into a pivoting motion of the steering roller about the second axis. The rotatable element is rotatable by a frictional force between a side portion of the belt and the rotatable element. A method for steering a belt in a steering mechanism includes such an apparatus.

Apparatus and method for steering a belt

A sheet transportation device includes a transportation roller driven during operation, a guiding element and an actuation device that is used to switchably affect the interspacing between the transportation roller and the guiding element. In a closed state during operation, a sheet is guided against the driven roller by the guiding element. The sheet transportation device also includes a freely rotatably arranged roller that is positioned in the vicinity of and arranged concentrically relative to the transportation roller. The freely rotatably arranged roller extends in a radial direction beyond a circumferential edge of the transportation roller. A reversing station and a printer can also include a sheet transportation device of this kind.
