A method of printing image information on a receiving material, two sides of which are provided with a binding portion for collecting a plurality of receiving materials into a booklet, the image information of at least two images being printed next to one another on the receiving material such that the images situated next to one another are printed with reading orientations rotated 180.degree. relative to one another and forming a right angle with the sides of the receiving material that are provided with the binding portion. To rotate the images, a fast method of rotating digital images is described which requires minimal memory space. Furthermore, the rotation method is particularly applicable to rotating a series of images and includes the capability of rotating each image in the series differently while utilizing minimal memory space and processor time.

Method of printing image information having a specific orientation

A scanner device, and the method it embodies, for scanning a document. The scanning includes a pre-scan and a subsequent main scan, with the pre-scan generating data related to the document. The scanner device includes: a scanning assembly having a platen against which the document is positioned and a mobile portion movable along the platen; a document moving device for moving a document in a first direction onto the platen; a mobile-portion-moving device for moving the mobile portion of the scanning assembly in a second direction opposite to the first direction; and a controller for controlling the document moving device and the mp-moving device, and for controlling the scanning assembly to scan the document while the document and the portion of the scanning assembly are both moving. This, for example, substantially reduces instances in which the mobile portion is moving without scanning taking place. When incorporated into a copier device, the controller controls the mobile-portion-moving device and the scanning assembly to perform a main scan as a function of the pre-scan. Such a copier has a reproducing device for reproducing a document based upon an image generated during the main scan.

Dual motion scanning method and apparatus therefor

An image forming method and apparatus in which digital image data is stored in a memory and read out of the memory to form images on copy sheets in a first image orientation or in a second image orientation rotated through 180.degree. with respect to the first image orientation, first image data relating to images to be formed in the first orientation being stored in the memory in ascending address sequence, starting from the first free memory address, and second image data relating to images to be formed in the second orientation being stored in the memory in descending address sequence, starting from the last free memory address, while reading out from the memory is effected in ascending address sequence for both the first and the second image data.

Image forming method and recording device

The present invention is a front-end system for the conversion of graphical data and coded font data into a serial pixel-bit stream for a raster output scanner, such as a laser printer. The front-end system includes a front-end controller, input/output means, which can be connected to a computer or a data network, and a memory for storing graphical data and coded font datat. Final printing format is determined by a fine formatter. The present front-end system also includes a bitmap memory for storing a bitmap representation of the page to be printed, a bitmap filler for expanding the data and placing them into the bitmap memory, and a bitmap reader. The functions of the front-end controller and of the input/output means are implemented in a first processor and the functions of the fine formatter and the bitmap filler are implemented in a second processor. The bitmap reader is formed by dedicated hardware logic. With the present construction, a high speed page processing can be achieved with a reduced number of processors.
