A method is provided for operating a gas turbine engine. The method includes: determining data indicative of an operation of a cooling system of the gas turbine engine during a shutdown of the gas turbine engine, following the shutdown of the gas turbine engine, or both; and modifying a startup schedule of the gas turbine engine in response to the determined data indicative of the operation of the cooling system of the gas turbine engine.

Gas turbine engine cooling system control

A gas turbine engine includes a core cowl and a core contained within the core cowl. The core includes a compressor in fluid communication with a downstream combustor and a downstream turbine, the compressor including a compressor bleed port, wherein an undercowl space is defined between the core cowl and the core. The gas turbine engine further includes a cooling duct disposed at least partially in the undercowl space and having an inlet and an outlet, wherein the cooling duct is in fluid communication with a source of cooling air and is further in fluid communication with the compressor bleed port; a valve assembly including at least one valve disposed in the cooling duct; and a cooling blower disposed within the engine and operable to move an air flow from the inlet of the cooling duct towards the outlet of the cooling duct and through the compressor bleed port.

A turbomachine control system that includes signal monitoring features is provided. Particularly, the control system proactively isolates or discards unresponsive sensed signals to prevent them from being used to control the turbomachine. The control system can detect and discard unresponsive signals and can utilize a healthier signal or a model of the expected sensor response instead to avert undesirable events, such as e.g., a loss of thrust control event. In one example aspect, the control system includes one or more computing devices that receive a sensed signal. The variance of the sensed signal is determined and then compared to an expected variance of the signal. The expected variance can be output by a sensor model of the one or more computing devices. A variance ratio is determined and the output is compared to a predefined threshold. If the output of the variance threshold exceeds the predefined threshold, then the signal is classified as unresponsive.

Signal response monitoring for turbine engines

The current subject matter provides a tool and user interface for estimating a velocity at which a plunger of a rod lift pump system will impact a fluid within a well when the rod lift pump system is altered to operate under various conditions of pump fillage. In some embodiments, the estimated impact velocity can be determined using a velocity pattern characterizing a velocity and position of a plunger of a rod lift pump system operating under a condition of complete pump fillage. The estimated impact velocity can provide a user with useful insight into potential operation of the rod lift pump system when operating under various conditions of pump fillage.
