The inking bars of an intaglio inking device are mounted in a cartridge which is easily inserted into and removed from the inking device. Adjacent inking bars have different aperture patterns to form an ink path transversely across the inking bars to remove ink from between adjacent bars. A moveable shuttle carries stop bars which can be used to selectively detent the inking bars.

A printed circuit board assembly is disclosed which includes a printed circuit board having in situ molded members for mechanically securing electrical and mechanical components and the like to the printed circuit board. The printed circuit board is manufactured using a method wherein a printed circuit board is initially prepared with the required printed circuit patterns and with apertures for in situ molded members and for the leads of the electrical components. The required molded members are then molded in situ in specified apertures of the printed circuit board. The electrical components are thereafter mechanically secured in place with the in situ molded members and the leads of the components are connected to the contact pads of the printed circuit pattern.

Defocusing effects by undesired wafer tilt caused by photoresist debris in prior art photolithographic apparatus are substantially eliminated by a novel plate for supporting a wafer to be imaged without generating debris. Three tabs are provided along the periphery of an aperture in the plate. Each tab is provided with a spherical body, such as a ball, precisely positioned in a predetermined plane, and arranged to contact the wafer at a tangent to the surface of the spherical body. Relative movement while loading the wafer in the apparatus with respect to the supporting balls causes substantially no discernible debris from the wafer surface material. Imaging defects on the wafer due to photoresist debris are also substantially eliminated by the apparatus.

An intaglio inking plate comprising a printing surface having an aperture therein, a plurality of separately-movable bars filling the aperture and means for positioning each bar separately either flush or depressed from the printing surface. The positioning means comprises (1) means for moving all of the bars to their flush positions, (2) means for blocking the further movement of selected ones of the bars, and (3) means for moving all bars that are not blocked to their depressed position.

A liquid spray apparatus provides predetermined, uniform quantity of liquid (such as photoresist developer) per unit area of surface by a parabolic cam mechanism, arranged to repeatedly reciprocate a nozzle at a predetermined varying linear velocity a plurality of times over a spinning surface, such as a semiconductor device wafer. The mechanism moves the nozzle at a parabolic varying velocity whereby the liquid is deposited at a uniform quantity per unit area. The cam is continuously rotated and engaged with a spring-biased cam follower during the spraying period. The cam follower is engaged and disengaged with the cam by a programable timer defining the spraying period.
