Disclosed is a mixing apparatus where a fluid is progressing from an Inlet tubing to an Outlet tubing. Every segment of the liquid is part by part transferred to the Outlet channel via numerous restrictor channels. The distances between the restrictor channels determine a dispersion pattern for any segment of the flow, progressing from the inlet chamber in the form of a reservoir channel to the Outlet. The nearer the outlet channels are placed one to another, the higher is the permeability to the outlet collector at the respective location. Delaying partial flows of the fluid with different flow delays and providing different flow volumes for the partial flows results in a predetermined flow distribution function thus determining a dispersion pattern. This allows for a continuous dispersion of a fluid property which is intended to be mixed, in accordance with a predefined fluid distribution function.

Method and apparatus for mixing fluids

A column for capillary chromatographic separations, for example high performance liquid chromatography, capillary electrochromatography, or supercritical chromatography, includes a column bed of packing material arranged in the inner bore of the column, and a retainer for retaining the column bed in the interior of the column, wherein the retainer includes regions in the interior of the column having radial dimensions which are different from that of the inner bore. Preferably, the column is a fused silica capillary whose protective layer is removed in a detection area so that sample substances separated in the column can be detected by means of a light source which transmits radiation through the column which is detected by a detector.

Column for capillary chromatographic separations

A column for capillary chromatographic separations, for example high performance liquid chromatography, capillary electrochromatography, or supercritical chromatography, comprises a column bed of packing material arranged in the inner bore of a capillary, wherein said bed of packing material is completely immobilized by a thermal treatment. The thermal treatment preferably comprises moving a heating wire along the column while applying pressure to the column using a high pressure pump.
