A device achieves thermal protection and cooling of the poles of an electromagnetic inductor, in particular for an induction furnace. The furnace comprises a plurality of tubes, arranged side by side and substantially coplanar, through which a coolant fluid flows. The connection of the tubes to the inlet and outlet pipes for the coolant fluid is made by a combination of socket and O-rings designed to ensure both electrical discontinuity and leaktightness between each tube and the pipes.

Electromagnetic-induction heating coil, especially for the heating of metallurgical products, in which coil conductors are cooled with the aid of a tube in which a cooling fluid, in thermal contact with the conductors, circulates, wherein the conductors are wound in at least one ply, as a helix around the cooling tube so that the ply has at least one twist of one complete turn between two electrical terminals of the coil.

Mobile modules for electromagnetic-induction heating or reheating a flat metallurgical product on the move, wherein each of the said modules is mounted so as to move on a track perpendicular to the direction of movement of the product. Each module includes an on-board counterweight, the potential energy of which may, at any instant, be used to quickly remove the module from the product.

Safety device for mobile modules which inductively heat or reheat

A cooling tube (T) is incorporated into each conductor (C1) of the coil. The current carried by this conductor is divided between the strands which are maintained in thermal contact with the tube even in transposition or twist areas in which the conductor undergoes particularly marked deformations. The conductor features at least one half-turn twist between the electrical terminals of the coil.

Inductive heating coil

The device for protecting the poles of an electromagnetic inductor comprises a heat exchanger formed by one or more co-planar metal tubes (6) designed to allow the circulation of a cooling fluid therein and of such an arrangement that there is at most one electrical junction between any two tubes or tube elements. The exchanger is fastened to a rigid electrically insulating support plate (5) coated with refractory concrete (10) and covers the entire polar surface as far as the cowls (3). The exchanger can be shaped in the form of a series of alternating hairpins or in the form of a spiral with one or more branches. The device serves especially for protecting the poles of inductors used for the induction heating of metal products.
