An improvement to the plate-type heat exchangers/vaporators constituted in per se known manner by a stack of a plurality of rectangular plates each having four orifices in the vicinity of the apices of the rectangle and thus constituting juxtaposed parallelelpipedic racks, alternately traversed in countercurrent by the hot fluid and the cold fluid, said cold racks having at their apex located in the vicinity of the cold fluid intake a strip having flow holes defining a cold fluid supply chamber and an evaporation chamber where the cold fluid evaporates by flowing as thin trickles in contact with the hot wall, the four orifices of each plate serving respectively for the admission and discharge of the cold and hot fluids, wherein the cold fluid intake is provided with a fitting or lining of a thermally insulating material which serves to create, by reducing the intake diameter, a supplementary pressure drop for said cold fluid and brings about a greater thermal gradient between said cold fluid and the hot plates in the supply pipe.

Plate-type heat exchangers

The heating system comprises at least one vertical heating duct through which is passed an upward stream of vapor and a downflowing stream of condensate, heating units placed in each of the premises to be heated and each comprising a condenser connected to a heating duct by means of a vapor withdrawal pipe and a condensate return pipe, a liquid-vapor separator for collecting the condensate at the lower end of the heating duct, an evaporator for delivering vapor to the central portion of the heating duct, at least one unit of the heat pump type for superheating the vapor of the heating duct.

System for heating buildings

The heat exchanger comprises at least one heat-transfer wall which forms a separation between a hot primary fluid and a secondary fluid to be heated. Each heat-transfer wall is either a vertical cylinder having a cross-section in the form of a circle with a wavy profile in the case of a tubular heat exchanger or a vertical rectangular plate having wavy corrugations in the case of a plate-type exchanger, a series of assembled plates being intended to form leak-tight compartments for receiving primary fluid and secondary fluid in alternate succession. The secondary fluid is introduced into the upper end of the heat-transfer wall in the vicinity of the wave crests of the wall face which is directed towards the fluid.

Thin-film heat exchanger

A first mass of driving vapor is admitted into a single chamber of variable volume and permitted to perform isobaric then polytropic work in an expansion which increases the chamber volume. A second mass of vapor derived from the refrigeration cycle is then admitted at constant pressure in order to attain maximum volume. The work performed by the driving vapor is utilized in a polytropic process for compressing the vapor masses which are then discharged to the condenser in an isobaric process when the chamber approaches minimum volume.
