Components of swimming pools, such as rims and base plates, are addressed herein. The rims and plates are adapted for positive interlock to prevent movement of one relative to the other, and the rims typically include dual flanges of differing heights. Among base plates contemplated hereby are ones containing a slot formed by their two vertical walls and which provide guidance at their edges for positioning their associated rims.

Structural components of swimming pools

Support systems for vessels such as above-ground swimming pools are disclosed. Each system may include one or more buttresses adapted to support substantially the entire vertical height of the side wall or each of a series of side walls of the pool. The buttresses, which flare along their lengths, closely match the support they provide each side wall to the outward water pressure present along its height for enhanced reliability. The diminished space required for installation of the disclosed buttresses reduces the surface area required for their associated pool.

A valve for controlling the flow of a fluid, in particular a liquid, said valve comprising a closure member (1) of compact shape which is resiliently deformable, at least superficially, and which is suitable for closing or exposing a fluid flow orifice (2) which opens out at a surface (3) of the valve body (4), the surface (3) of the valve body (4) is generally plane and the closure member (1) is mounted to rotate freely about an axis (5), on support means (6) which are constructed so that, when the valve is closed, the closure member (1) approaches the orifice (2) with zero or a relatively small incidence with respect to the plane surface (3) so that, at least at the end of the approach, the closure member (1) rolls on the plane surface (3) and is resiliently compressed against that surface until it covers the orifice (2) which it then closes sealingly, the support means also being constructed so that, when the valve is open, the closure member (1) is held away from the orifice (2) and is not compressed against the surface (3).

This annular inflatable element comprises two ring-shaped elements interconnected by an inner closed belt and an outer closed belt. All these elements are welded together, and all the welds are of the sleeve coupling type without requiring any complementary or additional welding operation. The last sleeve-coupling weld is formed by placing the outer belt against the inner surface of the annular electrode, and the belt lips are folded firstly outwardly and then inwardly between the electrode and registering contra-electrodes. Paper welding barrier are interposed between the first and second folded portions of the belt lips, and the lips of the ring-shaped elements are placed against the contra-electrodes, respectively, so that the last two sleeve-coupling welds can be accomplished simultaneously. This invention is applicable notably to the manufacture of rubber dinghies.
