A soil release promoting copolymer of poly(ethylene terephthalate/ethylene isophthalate) and poly(oxyethylene terephthalate/oxyethylene isophthalate) having a weight average molecular weight in the range of 6,000 to 40,000 is prepared by reacting an ethylene terephthalate/ethylene isophthalate copolymer with polyethylene glycol in the presence of a transesterification catalyst. The soil release promoting copolymer provides improved soil release properties for oil and greasy stains on polyester fabrics at high and low wash temperatures, is stable even at high alkalinity levels, and can be used at lower loadings than conventional soil release polymers without loss of efficacy.

Soil release polymers having improved performance, stability and economy

Films which are rapidly soluble in cold and warm water are formed from blends of water soluble polyvinyl alcohol (partially hydrolyzed polyvinyl acetate) and polyacrylic acid. The polymers are compatible and form homogeneous mixtures from which clear, transparent, non-tacky, easily handleable, mechanically strong films can be formed. The films are stable at both low and high humidity conditions, i.e., the films do not become brittle or tacky and retain their high rates of dissolution in water even after being stored in low or high humidity environments at both high and low temperatures. Further, improvements are achieved by incorporating a plasticizer into the polymer blend. The films are also heat sealable and biodegradable.

Water soluble films of polyvinyl alcohol polyvinyl pyrrolidone

A bar soap is provided having improved crack resistance, a more stable, creamier and unusually large volume of lather, outstanding lubricity and noticeable softening, smoothness, and anti-irritating effects on the skin after use. The soap bars comprise conventional soap formulations and 'combars' (soap and synthetic detergent) and as additives to provide the aforementioned benefits from about 0.1 to about 15% by weight of an anionic polymaleic electrolyte.

A diaper comprising a rectangular body of absorbent material having apertures in the corners thereof. Fasteners having hook-like filaments of 'Velcro' material are attached to the diaper by hooks integrally formed with the 'Velcro' filaments and engaged in the apertures of the diaper.
