A carded staple fiber nonwoven comprising three or more stratums. The carded staple fiber nonwoven has a basis weight of up to about 175 gsm and includes a blend of absorbing fibers, stiffening fibers and filler fibers. The carded staple fiber nonwoven is heat stiffened and the three or more stratums are integrated without adhesives.

Layer for absorbent article

A fluid management layer having an integrated, carded, nonwoven is described. The fluid management layer has a basis weight of between about 115 grams per square meter (gsm) and about 200 gsm; a plurality of absorbent fibers; a plurality of stiffening fibers; and a plurality of resilient fibers. The absorbent fibers make up from about 20 percent to about 60 percent by weight of the fluid management layer. The stiffening fibers have a dtex of between 4 and 10, and the resilient fibers have a dtex of between 3 and 12.

Absorbent layer for an absorbent article

An absorbent article includes a liquid pervious topsheet, a backsheet at least peripherally joined to the topsheet, and an absorbent core disposed between said topsheet and said backsheet. The absorbent article further includes an integrated nonwoven fluid management layer having a basis weight between about 40 gsm and about 65 gsm; and an Urine Standard Rewet Value of 10 mg or less.

Absorbent article having improved comfort

An absorbent tampon is disclosed herein. The absorbent tampon has a fiber integrated primary absorbent member having an insertion end and a withdrawal end disposed opposite the insertion end, a top portion and a bottom portion as determined by the Secondary Desorption Performance method, and a secondary absorbent member attached to the primary absorbent member and extending outboard of the withdrawal end of the primary absorbent member. The tampon exhibits a wet weight percentage fluid in the bottom portion of at least about 60 percent when measured in accordance with the Secondary Desorption Performance method.

Tampon and method for making the same

A fluid management layer having an integrated, carded, nonwoven is described. The fluid management layer has a basis weight of between about 40 grams per square meter (gsm) and about 75 gsm; a plurality of absorbent fibers, a plurality of stiffening fibers and a plurality of resilient fibers; wherein the fluid management layer exhibits a total compression of greater than 0.40 mm and has a total recovery of at least 0.35 mm, and wherein the fluid management layer has a density of less than or equal to 0.08 g/cc.

Fluid management layer for an absorbent article

An absorbent article having a nonwoven topsheet, a backsheet, an absorbent core disposed therebetween, and a fluid management layer disposed between the topsheet and the absorbent core is disclosed. The fluid management layer is an integrated nonwoven material having a basis weight in a range of from 40 gsm to 75 gsm and has 10 percent to about 60 percent by weight of absorbent fibers, from between about 15 percent to about 70 percent of resilient fibers, and from between about 25 percent to about 70 percent stiffening fibers. The absorbent article exhibits a third dose acquisition time of less than 10 seconds, more preferably less than 8 seconds, and most preferably less than 7 seconds, and a Rewet of no greater than 0.40 g, more preferably less than about 0.3 grams, or most preferably less than about 0.2 grams.

Absorbent article with improved performance

A fluid management layer having a basis weight of between about 40 grams per square meter (gsm) and about 120 gsm is described. The fluid management layer has a plurality of absorbent fibers, a plurality of stiffening fibers and a plurality of resilient fibers, wherein the absorbent fibers are present at about 20 percent to about 75 percent by weight, and wherein the integrated, carded, staple fiber, nonwoven has a first side and a second side, and wherein there is a higher number of absorbent fibers on the first side or second side versus the other.

A tampon has a pair of longitudinally extending side edges and an absorbent member. The absorbent member has an insertion area, a withdrawal area, and an intermediate area between the insertion area and the withdrawal area and an attachment area. The absorbent material has a plurality of fiber integrated nonwoven layers but are without fiber integration adjacent layers outboard of the attachment area. A withdrawal line extends from the withdrawal area and is attached to the absorbent member in the attachment area such that each of the plurality of absorbent layers is attached to an adjacent nonwoven layer in the attachment area.

Tampon and method of making

An absorbent structure including a distribution layer and a storage layer is disclosed. The distribution layer has two or more stratums. The two or more stratums include a body facing stratum and a subsequent stratum below the body facing stratum. The density of the subsequent stratum is a fraction of the density of the body facing stratum and the porosity of the subsequent stratum is a multiple of the body facing stratum porosity.

Absorbent structure with stratified distribution layer

An absorbent structure is disclosed. The absorbent structure includes a first fibrous layer having a first surface and a second surface and a second layer having a first surface and second surface. The first fibrous layer is substantially planar and the second absorbent layer includes voids within the layer. The absorbent structure first fibrous layer and the second layer exhibit a structural integrity substantially equal to an absorbent structure without voids.

A disposable absorbent article is described. The disposable absorbent article has a topsheet, a backsheet, and an absorbent core disposed between the topsheet and the backsheet. A carded staple fiber nonwoven having a basis weight of between about 50 grams per square meter (gsm) and about 100 gsm, includes a blend of absorbing fibers, stiffening fibers and filler fibers. The carded staple fiber nonwoven has a pore volume radius mode of between about 60 &#x3bc;m and about 120 &#x3bc;m.

An absorbent structure comprising a heterogeneous mass comprising one or more enrobeable elements and one or more discrete open cell foam pieces wherein at least one of the discrete open cell foam pieces comprises a first vacuole and a second vacuole wherein the first vacuole has a first cross sectional area, wherein the second vacuole has a second cross sectional area, wherein the first vacuole enrobes a first enrobeable element, wherein the second vacuole enrobes a second enrobeable element, wherein the first enrobeable element and the second enrobeable element exhibit different surface properties.

An absorbent tampon is disclosed herein. The absorbent tampon strikes a balance between fluid distribution and expansion to reduce the likelihood of kinetic leakage and bypass leakage. The tampons have a fluid kinetic value 'FKV' and a dynamic expansion value which are associated with their respective Syngyna ratings.
