A frying apparatus includes a basin for holding a volume of oil, the basin including a plurality of catches on opposed internal sidewalls of the basin, and a basket dimensioned to be received in the basin and including a pair of handles and at least one catch member. The catch member is movable between a safety position in which the catch member is biased away from the basket and towards the sidewalls, and a clearance position in which the catch member is urged inwards towards the basket. When the catch member is in the safety position, the catch member is configured to engage one of the catches on the internal sidewalls of the basin.

Frying apparatus and method

A frying apparatus includes a container for holding a volume of oil, a basket dimensioned to be received in the container, a spit rod supported by said basket, and a motor having an output shaft configured for engagement with said spit rod for rotating said spit rod in relation to said basket.

There is provided an immersion blender essentially having a housing or body portion for containing a drive motor, a shank or drive shaft operatively connected to the drive motor, and a processing tool operatively connected to the drive shaft. The immersion blender also has one or more handle portions, including, a first handle for pivotal control of the blender during operative use, a second handle for lateral control of the blender during operative use, and a third handle for stabilization of the blender during operative use. These handles effectuate a more effective and efficient operation of the immersion blender.

A user appliance incorporating the invention includes a non-volatile memory for storing (i) a series of queries regarding operating problems that may be encountered in operating the user appliance; and (ii) a series of instructions on how to overcome the operating problems. Switching devices are provided which enable the user to input &ldquo;yes&rdquo; or &ldquo;no&rdquo; responses to the queries. The appliance further includes a controller that is responsive to an input from the user to cause a broadcast of the queries and instructions via a voice synthesizer. The controller further enables the user to skip certain of the queries by actuation of a switching device to input a &ldquo;no&rdquo; response to the controller.

The method of the invention enables an automatic callback to a calling telephone whose caller has left a recorded message. In response to a received call, an identifier of the calling telephone is stored along with the message from the caller. Thereafter, the called party is enabled to play the message left by the caller and is further enabled to enter a callback signal during the playing of the message. This action causes the message playback to be interrupted, the identifier to be recalled from memory and used to automatically place a call to the calling telephone whose message was interrupted.
