A radar sensor device for motor vehicles, having a sensor housing, which includes a radome; a fastening section having an engagement contour for a fastening element which is in engagement with the engagement contour and carries a mirror-reflective region; and further fastening sections having engagement contours that are suitable for the engagement of such a fastening element, to fasten the radar sensor device in the installation location in the motor vehicle; and a method for fastening a mirror to a radar sensor device for motor vehicles. Fastening elements of a similar type, which are suitable for the engagement with engagement contours of fastening sections of the radar sensor device, are provided, and at least one of the fastening elements is provided with a mirror-reflective region, so that a mirror is formed; and the fastening elements are fastened to the fastening sections.

A sensor mounting for a sensor for object detection includes a housing for the sensor, a holder on which the housing is pivotably held, an adjusting device for an angular orientation of the housing and an angular gear mechanism for controlling the adjusting device. A sensor for a vehicle includes a sensor housing, a surface of which sensor housing has at least three areas defining at least three reference measuring fields. Positions of the at least three reference measuring fields define a reference plane. The reference measuring fields have (i) a surface texture which enables tactile position determination of the reference measuring fields, and/or (ii) a surface characteristic which enables optical position determination. The detected positions of the reference measuring fields are used to define the reference plane. A mechanical sensor axis of the target sensor is defined as extending orthogonally to the reference plane. The mechanical sensor axis is used to (a) ascertain an angle of deviation between the mechanical sensor axis and a known sensor axis of the sensor, and/or (b) align the mechanical sensor axis to a travel axis of the vehicle.
