A fluid injection system including a graphical user interface, a fluid control module operatively connected to the graphical user interface, a monitoring control module provided in at least one of the graphical user interface and the fluid control module, a fluid injector operatively connected to the graphical user interface and the fluid control module, at least one fluid path set in fluid communication with the fluid control module, and a hemodynamic monitoring system operatively connected to the fluid path set and the monitoring control module. A syringe for a fluid delivery system includes a pressure jacket having a distal end, a proximal end, and a throughbore therebetween. The syringe further includes a rolling diaphragm having a proximal end with an end wall for engaging a plunger, a distal end received within the throughbore of the pressure jacket. A sidewall extends between the proximal end and the distal end of the rolling diaphragm along a longitudinal axis. At least a portion of one of the sidewall and the end wall has non-uniform thickness. At least a portion of the sidewall is flexible and rolls upon itself when acted upon by the plunger such that an outer surface of the sidewall at a folding region is folded in a radially inward direction as the plunger is advanced from the proximal end to the distal end of the rolling diaphragm.

A syringe assembly may include a syringe having a distal end, a proximal end, and a sidewall extending between the distal end and the proximal end, and a syringe drip guard extending around at least a circumferential portion of the sidewall between the distal end and the proximal end of the syringe. The syringe drip guard may have an outer wall protruding radially outward relative to the sidewall. A channel may be defined between the outer wall of the syringe drip guard and the sidewall of the syringe. The channel may have a closed proximal end and an open distal end. The syringe drip guard may be configured to at least one of: collect, absorb, or adsorb fluid within the channel.

A method of determining fractional flow reserve (FFR) in a blood vessel having stenosis includes injecting fluid into the blood vessel upstream of the stenosis using a power fluid injector, measuring pressure drop across the stenosis, and calculating FFR from measured pressure drop. The injected fluid may comprise a contrast medium. Further actions may include placing a pressure sensor proximal of the stenosis, injecting fluid into the blood vessel upstream of the stenosis using the power fluid injector, and measuring pressure in the blood vessel proximal of the stenosis. The pressure sensor may then be repositioned to a position distal of the stenosis, fluid may be reinjected into the blood vessel upstream of the stenosis using the power fluid injector, and pressure may be measured in the blood vessel distal of the stenosis.

Method and apparatus for fractional flow reserve measurements

A pressure isolation mechanism for use in a medical procedure includes a lumen, an isolation port in fluid connection with lumen, and a valve having a first state and a second state. The first state occurs when the lumen and the isolation port are connected. The second state occurs when the lumen and the isolation port are disconnected. The lumen remains open for flow of fluid therethrough in the first state and in the second state. The valve is normally in the first state and is switchable to the second state when fluid pressure in the lumen reaches a predetermined pressure level. A pressure transducer can be in fluid connection with the isolation port of the pressure isolation mechanism A fluid delivery system includes a manually operated syringe and a pressure isolation mechanism as described above.

Pressure isolation mechanisms, method of use thereof and fluid delivery systems including pressure isolation mechanisms

A pressure sensor for use with a fluid delivery system having good sensitivity at low pressure, but also configured to remain in operating condition after being exposed to high pressures is disclosed herein. In one variation, the pressure sensor includes a fluid path set, a deformable element associated with the fluid path set and configured to deform in response to an external pressure, and a pressure transducer for monitoring deformation of the deformable element. In certain embodiments, the pressure sensor is configured to measure fluid pressure within the range of between about 0 mm Hg to about 300 mm Hg. However, the sensor pressure is also be configured to remain functional after being exposed to pressure in excess of about 60,000 mm Hg.

A fluid path set including a multi-patient use section adapted for connection with a pump device and a source of injection fluid, and a per-patient use section adapted for removable fluid communication with the multi-patient use section. The per-patient use section includes a pressure isolation mechanism having a first port adapted for connection to the pump device via the multi-patient use section, a second port adapted for connection to a patient, and a pressure isolation port adapted for connection to a source of medical fluid via the multi-patient use section. The control system includes a system to adjust control of fluid injection based upon a measurement of renal function of the patient.
