A device for metal coating of fibers, for example ceramic fibers, by a liquid process, the device including a crucible containing a liquid metal bath through which a fiber is drawn to be coated with the metal, and a cooling system positioned downstream from the metal bath to solidify the metal sheath created around the fiber by capillarity. The cooling system includes at least one nozzle for ejecting a compressed gas towards the coated fiber, and the system is sized such as to solidify the metal on the periphery of the coated fiber over a length of no more than 200 mm.

Device for obtaining ceramic fibers coated by a liquid process with a thick metal sheath

A method of coating ceramic material fibers in metal using a liquid technique and a device implementing the method. The method maintains a charge of molten metal in levitation in a substantially spherical shape inside a crucible and causes a tensioned ceramic material fiber to travel at a predetermined speed between a bottom pulley and a top pulley disposed on either side of the crucible such that a portion of fiber is immersed in the charge to be covered in a metal coating. During coating, the portion of fiber that is immersed in the charge is shifted as a function of the remaining volume of the charge such that the instantaneous height of fiber that is immersed in the charge remains substantially constant throughout the coating operation.

Method and a device for coating ceramic material fibers in metal by a liquid technique

The invention relates to a wire () which comprises a copper or pinchbeck core () surrounded by a pinchbeck coating consisting of a continuous pinchbeck sub-layer () in phase &#x3b2; and a superficial layer () with a fractured pinchbeck structure in phase ? enabling the appearance of pinchbeck in phase &#x3b2; in the fractures (). In this way, the electrical discharge machining speed is essentially increased.

Composite wire for electrical discharge machining

The electrode wire according to the invention comprises a brass core () covered with a &#x3b3; phase brass coating () having a structure fragmented into blocks () between which the core () is exposed. The blocks () have a thickness (E) with a narrow distribution and produce a coverage of the core () according to a coverage rate greater than 50%. This produces a regular fragmentation of the coating, which improves the finish state of the machined parts.
